Daimler Trucks Growing its Business in Asia and Africa Through MFTBC and DICV

In order to get stronger results from its commercial vehicles division, Daimler has been working hard to establish itself in new growth markets, particularly in Asia and Africa. Key here is Daimler Trucks’ “Asia Business Model” that allows it to gain traction through ‘stronger bundling and optimization’ of operations within the region. Important facilities within the region are major contributors to the division’s growth. Among these facilities are the Kawasaki, Japan-based Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC), as well as the Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV) facility in Chennai, India. Unimog Gets A Facelift And An Engine Boost

Unimog, the Mercedes-Benz variant built like a tank, undergoes a little facelift and an engine upgrade according to Fox News. The 2013 range that was recently unveiled features a little more detailed armor that include panoramic cab, new work and power hydraulics, plus synergic traction. This ensures that it has the same resiliency that can easily cross rough and uneven terrains. The Mercedes-Benz truck also sports a 7.7 liter straight-six unit that is capable of giving off 354 hp and 885 lb-ft of torque. Mercedes-Benz Actros 1851 GigaSpace Wins Green Truck 2013 Award

What’s the greenest, most eco-friendly truck right now? If you answered the Mercedes-Benz Actros 1851 GigaSpace, then you’re right! The particular Euro VI-compliant commercial vehicle model was recently awarded with the ‘Green Truck 2013′ award, determined by Trucker and VerkehrsRundschau magazine editorial teams. The key criteria for the award include fuel consumption (test results for which were recorded by the aforementioned magazines) and CO2 emissions. Max payload and exhaust emission classification also factored into the rankings. The Actros 1851 GigaSpace’s fuel consumption was shown to be nearly one whole liter lower compared to the second-ranked commercial vehicle. Daimler Trucks and Buses China Ltd. (DTBC) Established

To further enhance its commercial vehicle operations in China, Daimler AG has established Daimler Trucks and Buses China Ltd. (DTBC), a new legally independent entity that will be responsible for ensuring that Daimler can supply specific customer needs as far as commercial vehicles are concerned. Mercedes-Benz Dubs Euro VI-Compliant Truck Line the ‘A-Team’

In a recent media article, Mercedes-Benz referred to its new Euro VI-compliant heavy-duty truck line as the ‘A-Team’, which actually started in 2011. After continued refinements and constant development, the three truck models, the Actros, Antos, and Arocs (pictured), are now fully compliant with the emissions standard. Unimog And Econic Trucks Slated For Production In September

The latest iteration of the iconic Unimog truck will soon be available for sale, as it has been announced that production will begin in September. Together with the release  of the venerable Unimog is the Econic, another workhorse truck. Mercedes has announced that these trucks will be equipped with Euro VI compliant diesels. In the case of the Unimog, four and six cylinder engines will be offered, ranging from 155 to 355 horsepower. MFTBC Celebrates The Fiftieth Anniversary Of The Fuso Canter Truck

The best-selling truck of Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation is celebrating its fiftieth anniversary and sales have surpassed the 3,700,000 unit level since it was initially offered in the market. The MFTBC is a subsidiary of Daimler and produces the light-duty truck that is widely-used in over 150 countries. The popularity of the Fuso Canter is gradually increasing in the European market.
