Mercedes-Benz Trucks Approved to Use HVO

We’ve featured about a guy before who uses French fries grease to power up his 1981 Mercedes-Benz. Now, Mercedes-Benz trucks have now been approved to use HVO. HVO stands for Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil. It is an alternative fuel source, a biodiesel type, that is derived from waste materials such as used cooking oil, oil from plants or even waste fats. The report from Daimler said the approval was made in February 2016. It allows the in-line six-cylinder truck models of certain Mercedes-Benz trucks to use HVO, which will not only reduce its reliance to fossil fuels but also to provide it with a more environmentally-friendly option. Mercedes-Benz Pickup Might Fall Under X-Class

More details about the upcoming Mercedes-Benz pickup truck are slowly emerging. According to Autoblog, the auto might fall under the X-Class or Z-Class range. However, the first mentioned name of its range is the most likely choice. The Mercedes-Benz pickup was initially thought to follow the first two letters of its maker’s SUV models. Thus, speculations floated around that it might be called the GLT. However, new rumors suggest that it might be the X-Class or Z-Class. Based on the source, the X-Class name is heavily favored by Mercedes because it makes the truck sound tougher. The letter “X” could be associated with words such as “extreme,” or it could also… Continue Reading »
