Sprinter Van To Be Equipped With ESP In 2012

Electronic Stability Programs in cars are have been mandated in several countries, primarily due to its significant potential in reducing crashes and fatalities caused by out-of-control cars. Typical of Mercedes, the company has not waited for legislation to put this important safety technology in vehicles that will benefit from it. Starting next year, version 9 of Mercedes’s Adaptive ESP will be made available in Sprinter vans, where it will improve passenger safety as well as benefit other road users in critical situations. Aside from stepping in to control the brakes when a skid is imminent, the latest version of ESP takes into account vehicle load. This is highly important in… Continue Reading »

Sprinter Van Great for Business Because of Its Price

Vincentric, a company that tracks ownership costs, found out that the total cost of ownership of a Sprinter Van in Canada is 7.7 to 9.1 % lower than other vans. That is based on a 25,000 kilometer driving distance per year and factoring depreciation, financing, insurance, fuel, fees and taxes, repairs and maintenance. With all these in mind, the amount saved in ownership cost could be translated to $6,000 to $7,000 per year on a five-year period. And the data said that this is mainly due to low fuel costs, a total of $2,500 per year, followed by maintenance savings because you don’t really have to take the vehicle to… Continue Reading »

Mercedes Sprinter Van Shames Ordinary Limos

Despite being boxy and relatively aged-looking, Mercedes’ Sprinter van continues to be a versatile and popular platform for transporting goods and, in this case, executives. With its tall roof, the Sprinter van gives people enough room to stand up and move about. To ensconce their intended market in the lap of luxury, Brilliant Transportation pulled out all stops to transform the plebian sprinter into a chariot worthy of any power broker. The Brilliant Van is basically an ultra-luxurious limousine with a massive amount of headroom. Departing from the airport shuttle image of the Sprinter, Brilliant has installed leather captain’s chairs facing a bank of electronic aids (don’t say gadgets!) for… Continue Reading »

Waitrose Taps Gas-Powered Merc Sprinters to Slash Carbon Footprint

Bracknell-based UK upmarket supermarket chain Waitrose has just acquired a quintet of Mercedes-Benz Sprinter NGT models. NGT stands for Natural Gas Technology, and this means that the Sprinters all run on Liquid Bio-methane, sustainable natural gas that was made from landfill gas. The move aims to bolster Waitrose’s green initiatives as the vans operate from locations outside London. “This is a very exciting project,” said Ray Collington, who works as the fleet engineer for Waitrose parent company, the John Lewis Partnership. “We are committed to reducing our CO2 footprint, which is why much of our own food waste goes back into anaerobic digestion.” The five NGT Sprinters were supplied by… Continue Reading »
