You will say it is but natural for employees of one company to say good things about their products. Of course, you cannot sell something that you do not believe in, right? But when Mercedes-Benz managers and executives are the ones who say nice comments about the Mercedes SL63 AMG, you can tell that they are not doing it just because they work for the three-star brand, they are saying these things because they know about cars and they truly believe in their products.

“Flottina” awards were given out to some cars of the Mercedes-Benz family.

In its tenth anniversary, a magazine gave out the awards in Cologne and it was decided based on votes which were made by about 5,000 fleet managers. The voters searched for the most famous manufacturer and service provider of fleet.

A total of four citations were given to Mercedes-Benz, the Mercedes B-Class got the golden Flottina in the compact van segment. The Mercedes Sprinter got gold as well for the category of 3.5 tonnes and up, while the E-Class got the silver for the upper middle class category. The company, on the other hand got the silver Flottina for the Most Innovative Brand.

Last year, the three-star brand also received awards from Flottina; however, it was based on sales figures. This year, the awards were given to cars and companies which captured the interest and admiration of fleet managers, thus the voting scheme.

DTM 2012: Paffett Wins Brands Hatch

He came home looking for a victory in a course he knows well—and Gary Paffett delivered. The Mercedes driver took the win at Brands Hatch to secure his second victory in the first three races of the DTM 2012 season, extending his lead in the drivers’ standings and also helping Mercedes extend the team lead.

Over 27,000 people were in attendance over the three days of the DTM weekend, and Paffett would not disappoint the home crowd as he brought the win. This was his 19th win in 84 DTM races, giving him a win rate of 23 percent—the best clip among the current crop of drivers racing in the DTM. Incidentally, this was Paffett’s first DTM win here in Brands Hatch.

Paffett clocked in at 1:10:1.585, followed by Bruno Spengler of BMW for second place some five seconds later. Audi’s Mike Rockenfeller took the last podium spot. Mercedes’ other drivers couldn’t come close to Paffett’s performance, as Christian Vietoris ended up sixth after getting held back from the start to the early laps and Jamie Green could only manage eighth. Many of the drivers experienced difficulty when it came to overtaking at this particular track.

After three races, Paffett has 68 points. Spengler is second with 43, Audi’s Mattias Ekstrom third with 35, and Jamie Green close by with 34.

The next race is at Red Bull Ring on June 3.

McLaren Received a Ticket from an Officer in a smartfortwo

What happens if you race the McLaren, one of the fastest cars in the world, with another Daimler car, the smart? Well, no doubt, McLaren will win.

In a very ironic situation however, the smartfortwo seems to have won. But this is not a race. A police officer in the smallest and cheapest car in Daimler’s umbrella was seen writing a ticket for a parked Mercedes SLR McLaren Roadster in Beverly Hills. What happened when the owner of the stickered car saw the ticket is unknown. Well, there is nothing he can do right?

It’s just funny, at least once, the smartfortwo wins.

After getting in the second place last December’s evaluation, the three star brand is now on the top spot for being the strongest auto brand in Germany.

Other than winning the major citation, Mercedes also got the highest position in three minor categories, the first one being “Environment”, which is won because of the engine variants that the car manufacturer is making. These engines emphasize fuel reduction and economy, that reduces the risk of environment’s degradation.

Another citation is “security” primarily because of the COLLISION PREVENTION system in new Merc models. “Market power” was also bagged due to the market leadership that the company achieved in the last six months.

“The fact that we have managed to conquer the top position in ADAC AutoMarxX back, shows that we are with Mercedes-Benz at an outstanding way. I am particularly pleased that we are in the environment, and ranking in the category of security topped. The placement of the most successful premium manufacturer in the category of market strength underscores how well arrive before all our new products to our customers. The strongest car brand in Germany to be is for us first, a great endorsement of our work and at the same motivation for the future, ” said Dr. Joachim Schmidt, Exec VP Mercedes-Benz Sales and Marketing.
