Mercedes Targets 10 Plug-In Hybrid Cars by 2017

Mercedes-Benz recently revealed that it is planning to add 10 more models in its plug-in hybrid cars. The company said it is targeting that number by 2017. The German luxury car maker revealed that it is expecting to release at least one new model carrying the technology in every four months. Based on the new naming system of Mercedes, the individual powertrain designations of its vehicles will be indicated by a small letter following the model name. In this case, its plug-in hybrid variants will be identifiable with an “e”. A report suggested that the performance division of the three-pointed star brand responsible for the Mercedes-AMG GT may be considering a hybrid supercar. As we have mentioned earlier, among the vehicles highlighted by the three-pointed star brand during the 2015 Detroit Auto Show was the Mercedes-Benz C350 Plug-In Hybrid. The car is among the planned super eco-friendly variants of the brand to be released in the market this year. Based from sources, the hybrid sedan will go on sale in the fall of this year as a 2016 model. The car in the show came in glossy blue finish with “PLUG-IN HYBRID” lettering on its sides.
