Mercedes Retains Michael Schumacher as Ambassador

Mercedes-Benz confirmed that Michael Schumacher remains as its ambassador. The decision of the company came despite the current medical condition of the Formula One legend. It should be noted that Schumacher had an accident while skiing with his son at Meribel Ski Resort in the French Alps on December 29, 2013. The incident left him with a serious head injury, which led doctors to place him in a medically-induced coma. Luckily, like the fighter that he was during his run as a racer, Schumacher has beaten the odds. Announcement of his recovery came on June 16 this year. Recent reports say that he is still undergoing rehabilitation. So far, no word… Continue Reading »

Niki Lauda Takes a Jab at Marko Over the Vettel and Mercedes Issue

Niki Lauda is known to say what is on his mind, and he is not someone who lightly tolerates nonsense. Recently, he slammed Dr. Helmut Marko, the motorsport advisor of Red Bull for instigating speculations that Sebastian Vettel is being courted by Mercedes AMG Petronas to jump ship in 2016. It should be recalled that the Red Bull advisor revealed in an interview with Sport Bild last month that Mercedes and McLaren have been proposing for Vettel to move to their respective teams. He noted the two even presented Vettel outrageously high offers. “All the speculation of bull*** Marko is absolute rubbish,” said the non-executive director of Mercedes during an interview. He also confirmed… Continue Reading »

Mercedes third and fourth at Hungarian Grand Prix

Mercedes AMG Petronas was able to secure another podium at the very least at the Hungarian Grand Prix, with Lewis Hamilton finishing in third place. Nico Rosberg, meanwhile, finished fourth as Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo won his second GP of the season and maintained his status as the only other driver apart from Mercedes drivers to win a race in 2014. Adding a bit of drama to the race was a particular moment near the end of the race in which the team asked Hamilton to let his teammate pass–and understandably so. Hamilton drove a hell of a race, starting from the pit lane and working his way up the field…. Continue Reading »

Sebastian Vettel of Infiniti Red Bull Racing played down rumors that he is planning on joining the Mercedes AMG Petronas bandwagon after the 2015 season. He also denied similar rumors that he will be joining McLaren after the next Formula One season. The speculations originated from the comments of Dr. Helmut Marko, the motorsport advisor of Red Bull, according to Sky Sports. Marko hinted that the four-time champion has received offers from Mercedes and McLaren. He further said that Mercedes is hoping to pair him with Nico Rosberg when Lewis Hamilton exits the team in 2015. However Vettel responded that although he considers any offer, nothing has changed. Lewis Hamilton has never been in a great shape since 2008 wherein he emerged as the Formula One World Champion. Rosberg wins 2014 German Grand Prix

Nico Rosberg was true to form Sunday, as the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 driver secured his first-ever home race win and his fourth overall this season by taking the victory at the Hockenheimring. Teammate Lewis Hamilton was able to climb up all the way from P20 to start the race and vaulted up to a stellar and well-deserved podium finish. Sandwiched between the two Mercedes drivers was the Williams of Valtteri Bottas, who took his third-straight podium finish and his second-straight number-two finish following a stellar British Grand Prix and his impressive P3 in Austria. Despite the very impressive race driven by Hamilton, the Brit was seemingly not impressed. After all, anything… Continue Reading »
