Mercedes Discloses What Went Down in Engine Talks with Red Bull

When news broke out about the negotiations between Mercedes-Benz and Red Bull with the former supplying the latter with engines for its Formula One cars, almost everyone was in for a surprise. Mixed reactions were voiced out as well from the sporting community. But in the end, an agreement did not materialize. Without a winning engine for 2016, Red Bull owner Dietrich Mateschitz decided he will pull out from F1 next season. His other team Toro Rosso will also be making an exit. Of course, Bernie Ecclestone was very upset about it. He was suspected of even having a hand in the TV black out of Mercedes during the Japanese Grand Prix. So what… Continue Reading »

Nico Rosberg Throws His 2nd Place Cap at Lewis Hamilton

A Formula One World Champion has been crowned after the 2015 United States Grand Prix. Lewis Hamilton once again took the coveted F1 world title in a back-to-back win since the 2014 season, and his third F1 championship in his whole career. While his teammate Nico Rosberg was gracious even at his defeat last year, this time, he appeared none too pleased. A trending video recently showed the two in their lounge. During that instance, Hamilton tossed the podium cap towards Rosberg who was sitting. The German driver responded by throwing it back to his teammate. Hamilton looked like he didn’t respond to it. Then the clip also showed Paddy Lowe… Continue Reading »

Toto Wolff Opposes the Idea of Getting Independent Engine Supplier in F1

Toto Wolff opposed the idea of introducing independent Formula One engine suppliers. According to Autosport, he aired his side after F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone revealed earlier that the FIA will announce a tender process which would encourage independent engine suppliers to enter the sport. The system aims to allow additional power but requiring more fuel consumption. For an engine maker like Mercedes-AMG that is allotting millions of pounds just to develop an engine like the current 1.6-liter turbo V6 power units, the idea is not the way to proceed. He pointed out that engine manufacturers decided to participate in F1 because of the concept, which fits what is happening on the roads. He added, the… Continue Reading »

Lewis Hamilton bags US GP win and 2015 F1 driver’s championship

The 2015 United States Grand Prix was not short on action and drama, even after only 12 cars managed to survive the tough wet conditions at the Circuit  of the Americas in Austin, Texas. In the end, though, Lewis Hamilton emerged victorious–both in the race and in claiming his second-straight Formula One driver’s championship. Hamilton also wins his third overall title, making him only the second British driver to win three. This will sting for Nico Rosberg, as he was smelling victory near the end but let the lead slip. Rosberg finished in P2, while Sebastian Vettel battled throughout the race and took the last podium spot. By lap 47’s restart,… Continue Reading »

Rosberg takes pole in shortened US GP qualifying

Nico Rosberg will start at the head of the grid at the 2015 United States Grand Prix. With delay upon delay at the qualifying session for US GP and the rain looking like it had no intention of letting up, Q3 was cancelled and the grid was determined by Q2, which Rosberg topped amid conditions that continued to get worse during Sunday. Just as the drivers prepared to brave the wet track for Q3, we could hear shouts of “stop! stop!” via the team radios. With the decision to cut qualifying short, Mercedes was granted another front-row lockout. With Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton up top, the Red Bulls of Daniel Ricciardo and… Continue Reading »

Can Nico Rosberg Still Win the 2015 Championship?

All is not yet lost for Nico Rosberg. Mathematically, he could still win the drivers’ title. But with other considerations involved, his chances are quite slim. Toto Wolff advised the German driver to “switch on to 2016 mode and bounce back next year” during his interview with Motorsport website. Currently, Rosberg has 229 points under his record in Formula One Drivers’ Standings. That’s 73 points behind the F1 Drivers’ Championship leader and his teammate Lewis Hamilton’s accumulated 302 points so far. With only four races remaining and the double scoring in play, he could still snatch an upset for the championship. However, that would mean Hamilton should score very poorly… Continue Reading »

Mercedes Formula One Team Wins Its Second Constructors’ Title

The recent Formula One Grand Prix definitely showed us an action-packed event in Sochi Autodrom along the coastal area of Mother Russia. The conclusion of the race saw Lewis Hamilton emerging victorious. Then after the fog of war was cleared, his team, Mercedes-AMG Petronas was also declared the Constructors’ Champion for the 2015 season. Initially, the Mercedes Formula One Team fell short of the points it needed to bag the Constructors’ crown following the race. That was after Nico Rosberg had an early exit from the competition due to a problematic throttle, which earned him no points at all. It was a result of Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel finishing second and it’s other driver Kimi… Continue Reading »
