Bottas wins Austrian GP but Hamilton fails to make podium

Valtteri Bottas won the 2017 Austrian GP from pole position, holding off a late-race surge from Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel to ensure that Mercedes would win the race this time. Vettel’s second-place finish, however, means that he pulls a bit farther away from Lewis Hamilton. The Brit could only finish in fourth place after a five-place grid penalty was slapped onto him. The win nets Vettel six more points over Hamilton in the drivers’ standings. Vettel’s lead is now 20 points; he has 171 points to Hamilton’s 151. Headrests of Mercedes F1 Cars Enhanced

Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One team announced that they will be enhancing the headrests of their race cars. The move is to avoid the repetition of the problem that caused Lewis Hamilton to lose the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. A victory by Mercedes F1 driver Hamilton last Sunday would have let him to secure the number one spot in the drivers’ rankings of the organization. However, he was forced to stop for the pits because of a loose headrest in his car. The incident made him finish fifth after Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel. Bottas 2nd while Hamilton struggles in Azerbaijan GP

The Azerbaijan GP was certainly a very wild and chaotic race. Valtteri Bottas drove his Mercedes to second place right at the last possible moment heading into the chequered flag, ahead of Lance Stroll’s Williams car and behind the race winner, Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo. Bottas went behind Stroll’s slipstream at the final straight and overtook just ahead of the chequered flag. It was a fitting finish to the very wild race which saw yellow flags, a red flag, and a lot of contact between cars. McLaren F1 Will Go Back to Mercedes Engines in 2018

McLaren finally had enough of their engine partner in Formula One. Due to the team’s disappointing performance this season, McLaren F1 is reportedly switching back to Mercedes engines in 2018. There were already seven races held this year in F1. So far, McLaren is yet to score a point with their Honda engines. According to Daily Mail, Honda already pulled the final straw at the Canadian Grand Prix when the failure of its engine cost Fernando Alonso the final leg of the race. Mercedes F1 Team Weekend Wrap-up

The Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One Team just had an amazing weekend. First, the drivers of Mercedes F1 team both dominated the event with a 1-2 finish. The race in Canada marked the 56th career win of Lewis Hamilton. The event was also where the Briton got his fourth Grand Slam victory for claiming the pole position during qualifying, having the fastest lap plus leading every lap in the race, and eventually emerging triumphant in the end. Monaco GP: Bottas 4th, Hamilton 7th as Ferrari grabs 1-2

Sebastian Vettel took home the race win at the 2017 Monaco GP, at the head of a Ferrari 1-2 finish. Meanwhile, Valtteri Bottas finished in fourth place and Lewis Hamilton was able to get to seventh despite starting from P13. Overall, though, this was a loss for Mercedes as Ferrari managed to get father ahead in the standings. With the win, Vettel is now 25 points ahead of Hamilton for the lead in the driver’s standings.
