Weird Video Clip Celebrates Mercedes-Benz Motorsport Victories

To celebrate its victories in nearly all motorsport competitions it joined this year, Mercedes-Benz released a rather weird video clip recently, as shown on a report from autoevolution.com. The video clip is a combination of Tron, Spectrum ZX and Japanese manga showing a pair of Formula One drivers arriving from somewhere in space as well as a Lewis Hamilton with robotic arms acting as DJ. While the initial description makes the video appear weird, it is indeed weird. The video celebrates the victories of Mercedes-Benz at the Formula One, Formula Three and ADAC T Masters, among others. The video clip also shows everything turning into 8-bit graphics in a tunnel,… Continue Reading »

Mercedes caps 2015 F1 season with 1-2 finish

The Mercedes team capped off an immensely successful 2015 Formula One season by taking a 1-2 finish at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Nico Rosberg completed his hat trick, taking the race win ahead of teammate Lewis Hamilton. The team surpassed its points tally from last year by 2 points, finishing with a whopping 703. Rosberg made good use of his sixth straight pole qualification, converting it into his third straight race win and sixth overall for the season. This is Mercedes’ 12th overall 1-2 finish this season, a fitting end to an otherwise anticlimactic final leg. The next constructor, rival Ferrari, finished with 428, bolstered by Kimi Raikkonen taking… Continue Reading »

F1: Rosberg takes pole, Lewis in P2 for Abu Dhabi GP

The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is the final race of the 2015 Formula One season, and Mercedes was true to form in qualifying. Nico Rosberg grabbed pole position ahead of teammate Lewis Hamilton, giving the team a season record 15th front-row lockout. There’s really nothing left to play for for these two Mercedes drivers. The team clinched the constructors title in what seems like ages ago, and it’s been a few races since Hamilton was crowned 2015 champion. What’s left to see is if the team can surpass last season’s points tally — something that can only be done with a 1-2 finish at the race. The pole is Rosberg’s seventh of the… Continue Reading »

To celebrate its continued success in the sport since last F1 season, the three-pointed star marque revealed that it will launch the Mercedes-AMG A 45 Petronas 2015 World Champion Edition. The hatchback is basically inspired by the theme of the latest Mercedes Silver Arrow F1 car. Similar to the Silver Arrow, the special edition A 45 comes in a silver paint. Then it is highlighted by a pair of petrol green color lines running through its exterior side panels and a part… Continue Reading »

Nico Rosberg Wins the Formula One Brazilian GP

From the qualifying up to the actual race of the Formula One Brazilian Grand Prix, Nico Rosberg appeared to be at his best. In the race before the final event of the year to be held Abu Dhabi, the German driver secured the victory while his teammate Lewis Hamilton trailed behind him in the finish line. Rosberg was able to extend his lead against the strong contender from Ferrari and the four-time F1 World Champion Sebastian Vettel with his recent win. He now has 297 points in his scorecard this season while Vettel has 266 points. Hamilton already gained enough points to secure the F1 Drivers’ World Championship, but his latest second place finish raised his score… Continue Reading »

Brazilian Grand Prix: Rosberg heads another Mercedes front-row lockout

Nico Rosberg once again took pole position ahead of Mercedes teammate Lewis Hamilton, this time at the 2015 Brazilian Grand Prix—the penultimate race of the season. The latest is Rosberg’s fifth straight, and also his sixth overall this season. The German driver also took the pole at last year’s Brazilian GP. He edged out Hamilton in Q3 by a mere 0.078 of a second. “I didn’t have a good start in to Qualifying,” admitted Rosberg. “Q1 and Q2 didn’t go to plan. But then I found a better rhythm in the final session, so I was happy to bring it all together in Q3.” Of course, the recent terror attacks… Continue Reading »

Is Niki Lauda Leaving the Mercedes F1 Team?

It seems the friction within the Mercedes F1 Team is not only confined between its drivers Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg. According to several news sources, there is also a tension between the group’s chief Toto Wolff and non-executive chairman Niki Lauda. Daily Mail‘s Jonathan McEvoy said, “So annoyed was Wolff that Lauda was being interviewed by journalists that he refused to conduct his own customary press conference. The team’s media manager told journalists that Wolff was their sole spokesman and that they should not speak to Lauda. This is ironic, if nothing else, because Lauda works for the German channel RTL during race weekends, offering his views on sundry… Continue Reading »
