Team Mercedes Has Not Shown Its Full Potential in F1 Yet

Team Mercedes may be sandbagging in the races. This was stated by Will Gray in his recent article in Yahoo! Sport. According to the Eurosport expert of Yahoo!, we should not be fooled by the narrow time difference between Nico Rosberg and Sebastian Vettel at the end of the Formula One race in Sepang. He claimed that Mercedes was not even close to demonstrating its full potential this season. The fuel efficiency of the team was also nothing short of remarkable during the previous races. Basically, Gray was echoing the same observation of other F1 experts and fans who were watching closely in the race. We can say that Mercedes… Continue Reading »

Prepare for the Worst for Michael Schumacher Says Former F1 Doc

Months after the skiing accident that left Michael Schumacher seriously injured, an event which also left doctors with no choice but to get him into a medically induced coma; he is still lying in a hospital bed with no sign of interaction with the outside world. As a Schumacher fan since childhood, I am among the persons who are keeping track of his recovery. So, when a series of reports saying that the F1 legend is showing a little improvement, I saw it as a sign of hope for him and his family. However, as weeks passed, very little report seems to be coming out in the public anymore. This… Continue Reading »

Christian Horner Predicts a Mercedes Win in Bahrain

Mercedes AMG Petronas has been showing its dominance in the Formula One circuit from the pre-season tests right up to the actual races. So, far the team has been victorious in the first two races of the season. Not only that, it has displayed its superiority in an impressive fashion. In the Australian Grand Prix, Mercedes gained the upper hand over its competitors by logging a 25-second advantage when Nico Rosberg crossed the finish line (which turned out to be 26 seconds when Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo was disqualified). It should be noted that if it weren’t for the car problems experienced by Lewis Hamilton during the event, he would have performed… Continue Reading »

Hamilton wins Malaysian GP; Rosberg second for Mercedes one-two finish

This is how dominant Mercedes AMG Petronas could be this season. In a true show of force, Lewis Hamilton dominated the 2014 Malaysian Grand Prix and Nico Rosberg came in at second place to secure the first one-two finish for the team this season, and at one of their home races at that. Hamilton was on point the entire race, winning it by a whopping 17.3 seconds ahead of his teammate. He has never won this event in his years as a Formula One driver, so bagging the title at the Sepang International Circuit today was quite an accomplishment for the former world champion. He was also quick to point… Continue Reading »

Hamilton takes pole for Mercedes AMG Petronas at Malaysian GP

Heading into the Malaysian Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton was focused on one thing: get his title bid back on track, in order to put the disappointment of what happened at the Australian GP behind him. He was certainly in top form at the qualifying session, earning his 33rd overall pole position and second out of two races so far this 2014 F1 season. Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg, who is sitting at the top of the standings after his win in Melbourne, qualified for the third position on the grid. Despite the variably wet conditions at the Sepang International Circuit, the Mercedes cars — early favorites in this season of transition… Continue Reading »

Mercedes Remains as Favorite at Malaysian GP

With the Malaysian nation in mourning after it was officially confirmed that the missing Malaysian Airlines flight MH370 crashed in the Indian Ocean, some debate whether pushing through with the Formula One Malaysian Grand Prix is proper or not. While it is understood that the tragedy is very hard to accept, especially for the families of the victims, the race must go on. Aside from the tourism potentials that the race can provide in the area, it would also be a great time for the F1 community to honor the death of the passengers and crew of flight MH370. As Formula One prepares for Malaysia this week, it was revealed… Continue Reading »

F1: No need to replace Hamilton’s engine for Malaysian GP

The inaugural race of the 2014 Formula One season ended in a resounding victory for the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 team thanks to Nico Rosberg, but Lewis Hamilton had to shut off his engine prematurely to make it a bittersweet opener in Melbourne. There’s good news, however, as it’s been confirmed that the Brit doesn’t need a change of engine this early in the season. Under the new rules, each driver is only allocated five engines (or Power Units, to be more precise as that’s what the new engines are supposed to be called because we refer to the entire system comprised of the engine, turbo, and energy recovery system as one unit)… Continue Reading »
