Daimler is Top Electric Car Seller in Germany for First Half 2013

In the first half of 2013, Daimler AG took the top spot in German in terms of electric cars, with electric-powered Mercedes-Benz models combining with smart brand sales to achieve a 42 percent overall market share. The pace-setting smart brand was responsible for 983 units registered during the aforementioned period. That alone accounts for a market share of 40 percent. Mercedes-Benz Citaro FuelCELL Hybrid Buses Shuttle Service At KIT

The Karlsruhe Institute of Technology commissioned a hydrogen filling station on the Campus North, which is a requirement in the introduction of mobile fuel-cell technology. The station will service a pair of Mercedes-Benz Citaro FuelCELL Hybrid buses. The fuel-cell buses will provide a shuttle service to employees and students at the KIT Campus North, the KIT Campus South and the KIT Campus East. Daimler Looking into Sale of Li-Tec Battery Joint Venture

Daimler AG together with partner Evonik Industries AG are considering selling Li-Tec Battery GmbH, a joint venture that isn’t really very profitable. The companies’ efforts to find another owner to join up have been in vain, which is why it is now considering a sale. Li-Tec Battery, based in Dresden and formed in 2008, makes Li-Ion battery cells meant for use in automobiles as well as other industrial applications. The company develops and makes its own batteries.
