Mercedes-Benz surpasses 2013 sales total through November 2014

If you need a measure of the success Mercedes-Benz has had in 2014, here’s a good stat to chew on: the German automaker has already surpassed its total 2013 sales figures through November of this year. That means that the company is assured of a record year in 2014. Year-to-date figures are already at 1,486,839 units, which is a 12.4 percent improvement over the figures posted through the first 11 months of 2013. In addition, the company posted its eleventh-straight record-setting month, thanks to the 150,742 units it sold during this past November. Get Ready for More Mercedes-Maybach Variants

A Mercedes-Benz official revealed that we will likely see more variants of its latest Maybach lineup. The information came from Dr. Hermann-Joseph Storp, the development director for the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, during his interview with Autocar at the 2014 Los Angeles Motor Show. Storp disclosed that they are planning to offer more engine variants for their current Mercedes-Maybach S600. He said that an engine downgrade is expected for the S600, meaning it will probably adopt the S550’s biturbo 4.7-liter V8 unit. A diesel version is also considered in the future. Mercedes-Benz Aksaray plant reaches 200,000-truck milestone

We love manufacturing plant milestones, and the latest one’s just in for Mercedes-Benz as the Aksaray, Turkey plant just rolled the 200,000th truck off its assembly lines. The milestone was graced by the presence of Dr Wolfgang Bernhard along with other top executives of Mercedes-Benz Trucks. Mercedes-Benz Trucks chief Stefan Buchner noted the key role that the Aksaray facility plays in Mercedes-Benz Trucks’ production network. After all, there were 17,000 units sold by Mercedes-Benz Trucks in Turkey last year, and the country is the third-biggest truck market for the brand, surpassed only by Brazil and Germany. Mercedes F1 team celebrates with 50,000 spectators at Stars & Cars

Next-Generation LED Headlights Unveiled By Mercedes-Benz

While BMW and Audi have started to use laser headlights, Mercedes-Benz is currently working on its next-generation LED headlights, according to a report from worldcarfans.com. The luxury manufacturer from Germany aims to use 84 LEDs for each headlamp, which is a big jump from the 24 it is currently using on the high beam module found on the CLS headlamp. The increase in the number of LEDs is designed to enhance light quality.
