Road Trip from Los Angeles to Detroit

In an unusual long distance test the smart fortwo and the Mercedes-Benz E-Class demonstrated their top position among the most climate-friendly cars. On a trip from Los Angeles via Chicago to the Detroit Auto Show 2008 they demonstrated outstanding fuel-saving qualities in everyday real-world conditions. On the 4,400 kilometre route the smart fortwo mhd recorded an average consumption of just 4.8 litres per hundred kilometres (49 mpg). The two smart fortwo cdis were satisfied with 3.9 litres (60 mpg), and even the business saloon E 320 BLUETEC (US version) consumed an average of just 5.8 l/100 km (40.5 mpg).

Mercedes Benz: Strategy for the future

Mercedes-Benz milestones in its future eco-friendly strategy: – In 2008, Mercedes-Benz will be launching the first three diesel SUVs in the world in the guise of the R, ML and GL 320 BLUETEC, which will comply with the stringent U.S. 50-state BIN5 standard and future EU6 emissions standard. – April 2008 will see the launch of the C 200 CDI, which according to NEDC ratings requires just 5.1 litres of diesel fuel per 100 kilometres (CO2 emissions of 135 grams per kilometre). – The A 160 CDI is set to follow in June 2008 with fuel consumption of 4.5 litres of diesel per 100 kilometres (CO2 emissions of 119 grams… Continue Reading »

Mercedes-Benz Starts Marketing Campaign On Sustainability

With the introduction of BLUETEC diesel technology to Europe, Mercedes-Benz launches an international advertising campaign on the theme of sustainability. The first printed advertisements using the new brand design will feature the E 300 BLUETEC to be launched in Germany in December 2007. Four different print ads will be placed in all large-circulation magazines in Germany, running in parallel with a TV commercial and an online campaign. The sustainability campaign will then be extended in mid-2008 to include additional vehicles and developments related to Mercedes-Benz’ activities which are combined under the heading ‘TrueBlueSolutions’.

Mercedes brings Diesel to California

Mercedes-Benz announced today it is making a version of its E320 Bluetec diesel sedan available immediately to California customers through a special two-year/24,000 mile lease only program. The announcement was made on the runway at the opening of the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios in Los Angeles. Mercedes has made great progress with their Bluetec available cars in most of the States, but the inclusion of California, which probably one of the biggest markets for Mercedes vehicles, has been a great addition to the Bluetec success. C 300 BLUETEC HYBRID with 204 hp and just 4.6 l/100 km

In 2011 the C 300 BLUETEC HYBRID will be the next Mercedes-Benz model benefiting from the unique modular technology concept to enter the market. With a combined power output of 165 kW/224 hp and a combined maximum torque of 560 Newton metres, the engine delivers the same performance here as it does in the S 300 BLUETEC HYBRID and the E 300 BLUETEC HYBRID. Mercedes-Benz launches BLUETEC initiative in Europe

On the back of positive experiences gained in the American market since the autumn of 2006, the environment-compatible BLUETEC diesel system is now also available in a passenger car model in the European market. Mercedes-Benz has achieved a massive reduction in emissions and compliance with the EU 5 standard whilst retaining the same favourable consumption figures.
