[F1] Rosberg on Pole, Mercedes in Front Row for Monaco GP

With the way he dominated the three free practice sessions at the 2013 Monaco Grand Prix, Nico Rosberg was the easy favorite to claim pole position once qualifying came around. Well, that’s just what he did. Rosberg took his third straight pole by beating teammate Lewis Hamilton, who will start at P2 on the grid to make it a Mercedes AMG Petronas front row. [F1] Rosberg Tops Monaco Practice Again

Once again, Mercedes is showing some good pace–in practice, at least. Nico Rosberg topped the third practice session for the 2013 Monaco Grand Prix, with his 1:14.387 time  six-tenths of a second faster than the runner-up’s. Lewis Hamilton also had good pace, with the fifth-fastest time in Free Practice 3. He clocked 1:15.311. Rosberg also topped practice 1 with 1:16.195 and practice 2 with 1:14.759, so this is actually an improved time for the German driver. Hamilton was just behind him in practice 2 yesterday, clocking 1:15.077. Daimler to Sell Four German Mercedes-Benz Outlets in Cost-Cutting Move

According to reports, Daimler AG is set to sell a quartet of its Mercedes-Benz outlets in Germany in order to cut costs. This is said to be part of the company’s new strategy for cost-cutting. Two dealerships apiece in north and west Germany are slated to be sold off to some of the company’s existing franchise-holders. With the deals in place, a considerable portion of Daimler’s retail workforce will come off the books. Mercedes-Benz Electric Commercial Vehicle Discontinued

The low demand for electric cargo vans that can go as fast as 50mph may not validate full production of such a vehicle, according to Mercedes-Benz. The luxury car manufacturer made this revelation after its limited release of the Vito E-Cell electric commercial vehicle in the European market. The release of the vehicle was simply to evaluate its feasibility in the market. Due to the low demand, the project may be discontinued, according to Volker Mornhinweg, the head of the van division of Mercedes-Benz. The Vito E-Cell vehicle can carry loads reaching 1,873 lbs. For the Mercedes-Benz Museum, summer will kick off on the 18th of June. The museum’s summer programme, which is loaded with a number of highlights, is set to start on that day, a period that will last until September 8th. Mercedes-Benz is set to use a QR code, which will be placed on its cars, in order to aid rescue efforts of any injured occupant in case there is an accident.
