Renntech and Mercedes Refresh Pikes Peak GLK350

Premier Mercedes-Benz tuner has once again put its radical GLK350 Pikes Peak Rally Car on the road. Initially redisplayed at the Pittsburgh International Auto show two weeks ago, the radical GLK will next stop at Milwaukee, then on to Cincinnati, Cleveland, Kansas City, Minneapolis and Denver. Final stop will be at the Mercedes-Benz Classic Vehicle Museum in Irvine, California. In its initial appearance in 2008, this GLK had a hybrid powertrain consisting of a 72-volt electric motor providing an additional 26kW to the SUV’s 3.5L V6 engine. InCar Hotspot Wireless Access Now Includes GLK-Class

Mercedes-Benz has now included in its list of InCar Hotspot-enabled vehicles its GLK-Class SUV. Previously, only the the GL-Class (X164), the M-Class (W164) C-Class (W/S204), the CL-Class (C216), the E-Class (W/S212) and S-Class (W/V221) cars had this unique accessory available. Seven Mercedes-Benz models can now be equipped with wireless net access for people who simply cannot be out of touch from the Internet for long. As with the kits for the other vehicle models, four devices, such as a laptop, smartphone, iPod touch and any other wireless-enabled device can be accommodated simultaneously. Mercedes Benz GLK Diesel on the way

Diesel engine cars are becoming a preference to a good number of people because of its economy in fuel consumption as well as much quieter engine operation. Mercedes-Benz USA President Ernst Lieb was quoted as saying that the 2012 GLK will also be available with a 2.2-liter Bluetec diesel. It will cost a few thousand dollars more than its gasoline powered counterpart. The good thing is that the fuel economy of the diesel engine will be able to offset that premium amount on top of the gas powered version over in the long run. New GLK Boasts of an Entry Level 2.1 L Diesel Engine

Mercedes-Benz has launched a new engine for the GLK series of cars. The new diesel engine is a gem displacing 2.1-liters to produce a decent 136 hp. This latest 220 CDI BlueEfficiency configuration will serve the purpose of an entry level engine in the entire GLK lineup. Mercedes-Benz has released some impressive figures to go with the new GLK engine lineup. The 2.1 liter engine runs on diesel and manages a remarkable fuel consumption figure of 40.5 mpg (5.8l/100km) in the new GLK lineup. Maximum EuroNCAP safety rating for the E-Class, GLK and C-Class

No less than three Mercedes model series at once have achieved the highest rating of five stars in the more stringent EuroNCAP test – the E-Class, GLK and C-Class. During the course of its development to date, the new E-Class has successfully come through over 150 high-speed crash tests and more than 5000 realistic crash simulations. These not only included the various impact configurations prescribed for rating tests and worldwide operating approvals, but also the in-house, Mercedes crash tests derived from accident research findings.
