This week, we have heard that the 2014 Mercedes C-Class was caught by the spy photographers. It was heavily camouflaged with black plastic, so the design of the car is really hard to figure out. But what you can see is a longer and wider C-Class that has head lights that look like the one found in the F800.

Meanwhile, the engine is now being debated on still. They say that it might have a 3 cylinder engine, but nothing is sure as of this moment. Perhaps, there will be something concrete late this year or early next year, as it is scheduled to be released in late 2013 or early 2014.

Mercedes Australia Cuts C-Class Prices

c250 Mercedes Australia Cuts C Class PricesEarlier this week, Mercedes-Benz Australia announced a price cut on selected models of its C-Class variants. The move comes as a response to Australian authorities’ placement of the C200 and C250 sedans in a category where they will not be penalized with a Luxury Car Tax. Because these cars have slipped under the guidelines for the imposition of the LCT, Mercedes-Benz has been able to provide discounts of up to $2300 per car.

Mercedes credits its stop-start technology for the fuel sipping C-Class models that have escaped the Luxury Car Tax. These fuel-sipping Mercedes C-Class are now rated at 6.9 l/100 km. So, aside from being cheaper than its competitors, the C200 and C250 are also more frugal to operate. A worrying development for competitors BMW and Audi then. But despite this welcome development, Mercedes issued a stongly-worded statement regarding the LCT. “We do not believe or accept that any vehicle purchaser should pay LCT as it is a tax on technology and safety,” the statement said. “No other so called luxury purchase is subject to such a regressive, discriminatory and inequitable tax. No one likes to pay LCT and in this case we have passed on the fuel savings so that LCT now means Less Car Tax.”

Video: The C63 AMG Tire Experiment

What happens if you put in a space saver tire (125) in a power car like the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG? With all the might that the car has, surely you would think that a “thin” tire will make it slip. Well, not with the C63 AMG.

In this video, discover why Chris Harris said, “The greatest driving machine on the planet. The C63 AMG Coupe on space savers, might be the best handling car in the world!”

As he said, “narrower tires equals fun. And on the streets, fun is better than speed.” Have fun with the video and don’t forget to listen to the C63 AMG roar.

Announcing their latest collaboration, Daimler and Renault-Nissan have declared that they will begin building 4-cylinder engines at Nissan’s powertrain assembly plant in Decherd, Tennessee beginning 2014. The Decherd facility will produce engines for Mercedes-Benz and Infiniti models and at full capacity is expected to churn out 250,000 engines annually.

Nissan’s Tennessee plant ensures a strategic location and logistics link, as it guarantees a direct supply of engines for the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, built at Daimler’s vehicle plant in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Said Dr. Dieter Zetsche, Chairman of the Daimler Board, “In the context of our Mercedes-Benz 2020 growth strategy, we have decided that we will expand the production capacities required for this close to the customers. Through the strategic extension of our cooperation with Renault-Nissan we can realize near-market engine production in the NAFTA region on attractive economic terms and make optimum use of synergies arising from the cooperation.”

C63 AMG Black Series Estate Rendered In Time For Christmas

It’s a white and wintry Christmas in many parts of the world but Mercedes-Benz is in a black mood. A Black Series mood, that is. Following the media campaign for the C63 AMG Black Series coupe and the announcement of the SLS Black Series in its coupe and roadster version comes the confirmation that a Black Series C63 AMG Estate is in the works. There is a certain subset of car enthusiasts that just go gaga over fast estates and Mercedes certainly won’t deny these enthusiastic individuals the chance to own a Black Series estate.

Since the C63 Black Series estate won’t be released til the middle of next year at the earliest, those car enthusiasts pining for that super wagon will have to content themselves with a rendering from Theophilus Chin, who has come up with a version that definitely has our mouths watering. The front of the car is certainly consistent with the official images of the Black Series coupe and the rest of the rendering continues with what AMG designers would probably pen to make an aggressive-looking Black Series estate. It would also be safe to assume that the estate will have the 517 horsepower/7-speed drivetrain of the other C63 Black Series variants, which would mean a 0-60 mph time of around 4 seconds.
