C63 AMG Coupe Tricks On Facebook & Youtube

Let it not be said that Mercedes-Benz is an old-fashioned company, despite being one of the world’s oldest companies. As part of its efforts to increase mindshare for its hot C63 AMG Coupe, Mercedes posted a few videos on its Facebook page and asked fans to vote on their favorites. The top three favorites feature a pair of C63s drifting to form a figure eight, the second is a high speed threading the needle style stunt between parked cars. Ho-hum. Except it’s done in reverse.

For the third stunt, two cars time time it perfectly to intersect each other within inches of each car. All this media exposure only shows that Mercedes is reaching out to a younger set who are looking for thrilling rides. By showing these clips through Facebook and Youtube, Mercedes is capturing the minds, and hopefully the hearts, of an upcoming generation who will look at Mercedes’ products not as dad’s or grandpa’s brand, but the brand for their generation.

C117 To Introduce CLS Philosophy Downmarket

Looking, for now, like a Dodge Charger, this new Mercedes is actually the prototype for another 4-door coupe, which Mercedes popularized with its CLS model. Internally known as the C117, this car will become known as the CLC.

Because it will be based on the platform that will be used for the upcoming B-Class hatchback, expect the CLC to be a lot smaller than the sexy-looking CLS, which, despite being called a coupe, is decidedly a largish sedan. This mini CLS will reportedly be available in 100-150 horsepower diesel and gasoline versions, although the availability of the particular engines will probably depend on the market. It won’t be wishful thinking to expect an AMG version, and the engine for this hot model will be tuned to produce at least 300 horsepower. Front- or all-wheel drivetrains will be mated to Mercedes’ 7-speed automatics or a 6-speed manual.

To be officially introduced in 2012, this hot new four-door coupe will appeal to a demographic looking for a fresh and energetic design.

Exclusive: Spy-shots of the upcoming “baby” CLS

The Baby-CLS or BLS/CLC/CLA as some are calling it, was just a rumor back a few months ago when we first reported about it, but as we can see in these exclusive spy-shots, it seems that Mercedes-Benz is going ahead with it’s plan to create a smaller version of legendary CLS.

It is rumored that the baby-CLS (some are even calling it the 4-door coupe version of the C-Class) will be built on the same architecture as the next-gen B-Class. Front-wheel drive will be available for the standard version, whereas the AMG version will get a all-wheel drive system.

Not much is known about the drive system, but if rumors are correct, it could come in a 1.6 and 2.0 liter engine, with 150 and 207 horsepower respectively.

We’re not exactly sure if this is a prototype version of the car being built for internal use, or if Mercedes-Benz is prepping it for the IAA in Frankfurt this September. Either way, we can certainly confirm that these spy shot, taken at the Mercedes-Benz plan in Hungary, look very much like the all-new CLS, but with smaller dimensions, hence the baby-CLS.
