3 New Mercedes-Benz AMG Models Set for New PS3-bound Gran Turismo Game

Many racing game fans got a treat when Gran Turismo 6 was announced recently at the game’s 15th Anniversary event at the famed Silverstone circuit, which also happens to be one of the seven new locations in the game. That’s not the only new thing slated for GT6, as three new Mercedes-Benz AMG models are also set to make their virtual debut: the SLS AMG GT3, the E63 AMG, and the A45 AMG. The additions will bolster the strong Mercedes-Benz contingent being retained from Gran Turismo 5, of which there are 21 vehicles. Cool-Looking Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Darth Vader

California-based ADV1 and Miami-based Wheels Boutique collaborated on a project that transformed a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG into a customized vehicle that was dubbed Darth Vader. A MED Design carbon fiber body kit was used on the SLS AMG Coupe, giving it an all-black, aggressive appearance. The body kit also included a front spoiler, boot lid spoiler, and a rear diffuser. All of these features along with the entire body were given a clear black coat finish. Quadruple exhaust tips of the Akrapopvic exhaust system are found on the rear apron of the vehicle. In the lead-up to the 24-hour race at the Nurburgring on May 19, Mercedes-Benz will stage a special showcase called Mercedes AMG Performance Drive, which will pit a quartet of Mercedes AMG vehicles against the lone F1 Silver Arrow to be driven by motorsport legend Michael Schumacher. The vehicles will go out on the track at different times, but are slated to reach the finish line all at the same time. Mercedes-Benz SL Models Receives AMG Treatment

The Mercedes-Benz SL model was given a facelift recently by the luxury car manufacturer. The modifications include the addition of some equipment and will be included in the models that will come out of the production line in June. Although the equipment added into the AMG Sports models are priced at £6,625 the price tags of the vehicles have gone down. The Mercedes-Benz SL350 AMG Sports is priced at £69,960, which is lower than the £72,520 of the SL350. The Mercedes-Benz AMG Sport is priced at £79,970, down from the £83,470 of the SL500. Michael Schumacher Goes Through Nürburgring On A Mercedes AMG F1 Car

On May 19, the Nürburgring Nordschleife will see Michael Schumacher using an AMG F1 W02 car of Mercedes running through it. It comes after the 2007 lap of Nick Heidfeld. Hedidfeld used a BMW Sauber in Nordschleife, which was removed from the Formula 1 racing calendar after the crash of Niki Lauda in 1976. The renowned Formula 1 driver will go through the track on the 19th of May, prior to the twenty-four hour race in Nürburgring. Restyle It Gives The Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG A Makeover

The Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG was given a makeover recently by Restyle It, a wrapping specialist based in Canada. The color of the German luxury vehicle was altered giving it a more pronounced shade of yellow reminiscent of that impressive yet endearing robot-morphing muscle car from a race of alien robots. The whole car was given a light yellow wrapping to complete its transformation. The company also added gloss black trimmings along the front grille, the vents, roof, lower front lip, rear spoiler, the diffuser and the mirror casings.   With BMW and Audi putting out sporty models powered by diesel engines, it wouldn’t have been much of a surprise to see Mercedes follow suit. But AMG has officially thumbed down diesels as an option on cars that bear its logo. This is a breath of fresh air for enthusiasts who have lately seen iconic brands, such as BMW’s M, being watered down for the sake of marketing.
