Mercedes-Benz cars aren’t just expensive because of style and quality. In these vehicles lie some of the most advanced modern driver assistance technologies you can think of, and that includes something called COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST. This technology can be found in the new B-Class, and it’s a standard feature that, according to Mercedes-Benz, can reduce the amount of rear-end collisions by as much as 30 percent when compared to other vehicles that do not have a similar piece of tech. In order to come up with this figure, safety experts took figures provided by the Federal Statistical Office in Germany and stacked the effectivity of the assist system to date against… Continue Reading »

Over 100,000 Mercedes-Benz S-Class units sold one year since market launch

Since the market launch of the new S-Class in mid-October of last year, over 100,000 units of the luxury sedan line have been sold. That represents the highest sales figures of within one year since launch in S-Class history, which would make this current model the most successful launch of an S-Class. Surely, it also helps that this S-Class was also the fastest to actually get to the market. Within under twelve weeks since market launch, the S-Class was already on sale in the three core markets. It went on sale at home first, being available in Germany since the end of July last year. China got the new S-Class at the… Continue Reading »

The pole is also the team’s 15th out of the 16 races so far this season. Running on a new track, both drivers expressed delight in their runs in practice as they got accustomed to the Sochi circuit. Mercedes’ Hamilton wins short-lived Japanese Grand Prix; Rosberg second in race marred by Bianchi crash

Mercedes AMG Petronas’ Lewis Hamilton took the victory as the 2014 Japanese Grand Prix ended prematurely, allowing the Brit to extend his lead over teammate Nico Rosberg, who started on pole but had to settle for second place. The race had to be ended early and the results backdated after a serious crash involving Jules Bianchi of Marussia and a JCB recovery vehicle, which was attending to an incident from the previous lap. “My thoughts are with my colleague,” Rosberg said. “They have given us some information and it seems very, very serious.” Typhoon Phanfone made its mark on the race early on, with standing water accumulating on the track and water splashing… Continue Reading »

Mercedes-Benz to ramp up activities on autonomous vehicle research and testing

Since September, Mercedes-Benz has been conducting tests on autonomously driving (self-driving) vehicles in California’s public roads. Now, the company is set to expand on its research activities and get more testing done, thanks to the ability to use the Concord Naval Weapons Station (CNWS) test bed site, which is the largest in the United States. The use of the CNWS site is essential in being able to test self-driving cars, providing a more secure method for testing, especially when it comes to particularly hazardous scenarios. “Taken in conjunction with the results of our test drives on public roads, these tests will help us with the ongoing development of our autonomous cars,”… Continue Reading »
