Hamilton claims 50th career win at US GP; Rosberg second for Mercedes 1-2

Lewis Hamilton managed to gain back some ground in the race for the 2016 F1 drivers championship. The Mercedes driver took the win at the US GP over teammate Nico Rosberg and managed to climb to within 26 points of the lead, with three races left in the season. It was a smooth win for Hamilton, all the way from pole position. The US GP marked the British driver’s 50th career victory, after earning his 58th pole position earlier in the weekend. Rosberg wins Japanese Grand Prix as Mercedes clinches constructors’ title

Nico Rosberg extended his lead in the standings as the Mercedes team clinched the 2016 F1 constructors’ championship at the Japanese Grand Prix. Lewis Hamilton, who seemed to be acting out in some of the official events during the weekend, finished third. Sandwiched between the Mercedes cars was the Red Bull of Max Verstappen. This is his third-straight runner-up finish. Rosberg was the frontrunner from the start and never looked back. Hamilton, meanwhile, had a bad start but fought back to claim a podium finish. Hamilton flames out of Malaysian GP; Rosberg finishes third

Lewis Hamilton could only muster cries of “oh no, no” as flames erupted from his Mercedes F1 car’s engine late into the Malaysian GP and with the British driver leading comfortably. What would have been certain victory fizzled out, and he looked on as teammate Nico Rosberg extended his lead in the championship race by finishing in third place. Rosberg wins Singapore GP; retakes lead over Hamilton in title race

Nico Rosberg won the 2016 Singapore GP, finally retaking the lead in the drivers’ championship race. With six races left this season, Rosberg has snagged the momentum from teammate Lewis Hamilton. The win is Rosberg’s third in a row, after also winning in Belgium and in Italy. Hamilton, meanwhile, managed to finish in third place behind Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo. With that difference, Rosberg takes an 8-point lead, with 273 points in total compared to Hamilton’s 265. Between them, the Mercedes drivers have won all but one of the 15 races so far in 2016. Rosberg capitalizes on Hamilton’s slow start, wins Italian Grand Prix

Lewis Hamilton took pole position for the first time in four races, but fellow Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg capitalized on a slow start to secure the win at the 2016 Italian Grand Prix. With the win, Rosberg’s second in a row, he moves within 2 points of Hamilton in the drivers’ standings. This is Rosberg’s seventh win this season, which is one more than Hamilton’s total. Rosberg wins Belgian GP; Hamilton goes from back row to podium

In the first race back from the mid-season F1 break, Nico Rosberg won the 2016 Belgian Grand Prix, snapping a four-race skid that saw him relinquish the points lead to Mercedes teammate Lewis Hamilton. eanwhile, Hamilton took third place despite starting the race from the back row. Mercedes-Benz to get cool new €1B plant in Kecskemét, Hungary

Daimler is set to invest a whopping €1 billion ($1.1 billion) to build a new Mercedes-Benz plant in Kecskemét, Hungary. The planned facility is expected to generate some 2,500 jobs in the area. Of course, that’s when the plant starts producing vehicles, which is estimated for sometime around the end of this decade. Initial preps for the facility will start sometime within the current year. This will be the second Mercedes-Benz plant in Kecskemét. The company has already announced a new round of investment in order to expand as well as upgrade the existing facility.
