Mercedes-Benz to enter South Korea premium taxi market

Starting October, Mercedes-Benz will enter the South Keorean premium taxi market, competing with BMW in a pilot project by Seoul City and in partnership with Daum Kakao and High&, a local taxi association. The program is designed to allow taxi services to cope with the popularity of app-based transport services such as Uber. There will be 50 units of the new Mercedes-Benz E350 BlueTec 4MATIC along with 50 units of BMW’s 530d xDrive. These premium taxi units will carry a new mobile-app-based reservation system in the fall. The app will debut through Daum Kakao. Mercedes-Benz passes million-car sales mark in July

Here’s one more indicator of just how much success Mercedes-Benz is enjoying in 2015: in July, the German automaker has just passed the 1-million mark for cars sold so far this year. To be more specific, Mercedes-Benz has sold 1,048,178 vehicles as of the end of July 2015. That number plus smart car sales adds up to 1,119,629 units. “Never before have we delivered so many cars to customers in the first seven months of a year,” stated Mercedes-Benz Cars marketing and sales chief Ola Källenius. Five Mercedes-Benz cars stolen from Fairfield dealership

Thieves ran away with five current-model Mercedes-Benz cars worth over $200,000 combined from the Mercedes of Fairfield dealership, in a spree carried out over the course of one week. The dealership had not been alerted to the thefts until Yonkers, NY police informed the dealership that a couple of the cars were spotted on a city street bearing the Mercedes of Fairfield logo on the plate holders. The two cars found were a 2015 ML250 (retail price at $49,800) and a 2015 GL450 (retail price $74,050). The rest of the stolen units had been found in the Bronx, according to the police. Lewis Hamilton became the first Brit to win the British Grand Prix from pole since 1994, relying on patience and good timing to edge out Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg and the Williams cars. Mercedes’ Rosberg wins the 2015 Austrian Grand Prix; Hamilton second as team completes another 1-2 finish

Nico Rosberg took the lead heading into turn 1 and managed to keep Mercedes teammate Lewis Hamilton in his rear-view mirror the rest of the way, winning the 2015 Austrian Grand Prix and closing the gap between himself and Hamilton in the drivers’ championship standings. Rosberg finished the race in 1:30:16.9, a comfortable 8.8 seconds ahead of his teammate. With the win, Rosberg is again within 10 points of Hamilton in the championship race, 159 points to 169. Hamilton leads another Mercedes front-row lockout in Austrian Grand Prix qualifying

Lewis Hamilton was at the head of yet another Mercedes AMG Petronas front-row lockout at the qualifying session for the 2015 Austrian Grand Prix in Spielberg. Hamilton notched his 45th career pole position, including his seventh of this current season. In addition, this makes it 19 straight pole positions for Mercedes, dating back to last season’s Austrian GP. This also happens to be the sixth Mercedes front-row qualifying effort this season thanks to Nico Rosberg’s sixth front-row qualification. Lewis Hamilton cruises to Canadian GP victory as Mercedes clinches another one-two finish

Looks like Mercedes AMG Petronas driver Lewis Hamilton got over his Monaco heartbreak easily. He drove as well as he could have at the Canadian Grand Prix this weekend on his way to a race win from pole position, ahead of the fourth Mercedes one-two finish of the season. Hamilton finished  a comfortable 2.285 seconds ahead of teammate Nico Rosberg, putting some separation (7 more points) between the two competitors.
