Erebus Mercedes team takes 1-2 win at Australian GT

If you’re not the kind of fan who drools over a photo of an F1 car, then you might be someone who’s more interested in race cars which look a lot more like their roadside counterparts. We’re talking about GT cars — or the Sergeant Security Australian GT Championship to be exact — held at Philip Island. Wet, cold weather was the setting which Peter Hackett and James Brock had to endure while in the helms of their Erebus Mercedes-Benz SLS GT3s. They were grinding teeth with the Dodge Viper GT3 and Ferrari 458 GT3s in Pro-Am format. “It was remarkable for our team, as it was only the second… Continue Reading »

Mercedes-Benz Cotton Row 10K dominated by Kenyan Julius Koskei

45 seconds. That’s the difference between Julius Koskei’s seed time compared to over 2,000 runners competing in the 33rd Mercedes-Benz Cotton Row Run. The 30-year-old runner from Hebron, Kenya, beat everybody else to the finish line. To give you a more dramatic impression, only seven runners were able to keep up with him until one mile into the course. This got cut down to only three upon reaching the base of Mountainwood hill. Koskei almost trampled on the course record of 29:10 if not breaking the finish line five seconds longer. The sun was high up in the sky and it was really humid, makings things a lot harder than… Continue Reading »

Active Comfort System to reinvigorate your driving senses

Mercedes-Benz keeps the love alive among its most loyal fans with its latest technological offering — the Active Comfort System. This system is designed to (get this) make drivers fall asleep. Yes, you read right. Before you raise your hand in argument, take note that it’s not meant to make drivers fall asleep while driving. Rather, Mercedes-Benz designed the system to help you catch powernaps wherever and whenever you pull over for lack of a good night’s rest. Yeah, sure. Whether it’s for lack of sleep the previous night, or just a really bad hangover, this system will help you catch a few z’s to help clear your head for… Continue Reading »

Video: The Concept Style Coupe

A new kind of CSL — that is what you could expect from the upcoming Concept Style Coupe, pegged to hit distributors by next year. The four-door coupe, otherwise known as the CSC, will be carrying around 208 horses inside its 2-litre inline four turbocharged engine, more than enough power to please even the most adventurous Mercedes-Benz owner. Daimler reports that the CSC will be produced at the Kecsemet facility in Hungary, and hints at the model having a variety of engines with power ranging from 108 to 208hp. If you weren’t able to catch a glimpse of the CSC at this year’s Beijing Motor Show, then the video below… Continue Reading »

Video: SLR McLaren is a sitting duck

This is embarassing. Imagine scooting around town in your badass Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren only to end up being handed a parking violation ticket by an officer driving a Smart car. In case you’re wondering, a new SLR McLaren held a price tag of just over half a million dollars during its time. It seems the wealthy owner, self-titled “Prince of Germany”, was simply begging to get caught by displaying his ride in the wrong place at the wrong time. The officers just happened to be driving along Beverly Hills, California in their Smart Fortwo when, lo and behold, there sitting in a no-parking zone was the 617hp supercar dressed up… Continue Reading »

Megaupload founder’s wife pleads return of confiscated Mercedes-Benz

They say that karma has a funny way of circling back towards people who gain from other people’s losses. It sure looks like the ugly truth for Megaupload founder Kim Dotcom whose extravagant lifestyle has been put on hold thanks to copyright infringement charges. Really, they had it coming. The wife even pleaded to the courts asking them to give back at least some of her property in order to keep their household thriving. Part of this property is a $202,000 G55 Mercedes SUV. “I am simply asking the courts to return my own property and make reasonable provision for our family’s ongoing maintenance and care,” says Mona Dotcom. In… Continue Reading »

Korean traders under wraps for illegal export of Mercedes-Benz

As if being arrested for supporting North Korea’s bid for world domination thru the exportation of harmless ceramic tiles enroute to Kim-JOng iL’s beloved country wasn’t crazy enough, a group of Korean traders in Tokyo, Japan were served a fresh plate of arrest warrants for another mischievous act – shipping out secondhand Mercedes-Benz vehicles. Now, as avid fans of the brand, it is not part of our intentions to deprive our NoKon brothers of their God-given right to enjoy the fruits of German engineering. The only problem is, the Japanese government seems to be against the idea of senior NoKon officials getting command of the said fleet of exported vehicles…. Continue Reading »
