Crossovers are taking over everything in the auto industry that even luxury brands have gotten into the mix. So, what’s the next best thing? A high-performance crossover, of course! The German automaker, thankfully, is no stranger to turning their SUVs into performance engines as proven by the G-Class and the GLC.

In 2015, the M-Class was upgraded into a high-performance AMG-tuned GLE Coupe. It will finally get its much needed enhancement for 2018, proving once and for all that SUV and performance can go together.

The 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe, particularly the AMG GLE43 and GLE63 S Coupe models, will get two new premium interior at no extra cost. There will also be 11 color schemes to choose from.

But aside from the exterior aesthetics, the engines of the two cars were also upgraded. The GLE43’s 3.0-liter V-6 Biturbo can now be able to produce 385 horsepower while the GLE63 S’ 5.5-liter Biturbo V-8 will have an output of 577 horsepower.

The engines of both cars have been upgraded, with the GLE43’s 3.0-liter V-6 Biturbo now making 385 horsepower and the GLE63 S’ signature 5.5-liter Biturbo V-8 making an eye-watering 577 horsepower.

The GLE43 Coupe will pair its engine with a nine-speed 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission, which is widely known for its vast and diverse driver comfort gearing settings. The GLE63, on the other hand, will receive the 7G-TRONIC semi-automatic transmission whose speed and responsiveness in shifting gears can compete with most dual-clutch transmissions in the market.

Both cars will receive Mercedes-AMG’s smart 4MATIC® all-wheel drive system, which will make the navigations (turning corners, specifically) better and easier. Not only that, the two cars will also be fitted with the AIRMATIC® air suspension and active anti-roll bars, reducing the need for body roll in cutting corners even at high speed.

There will be three available packages for the GLE Coupe and all of them include different visual customization and driver assists. The AMG Performance Studio Package will have drivers choose among six colors that can be applied to the outside of the vehicle at once.

On the other hand, the Premium 1 package focuses on safety technology like Lane Keeping Assist, Blind Spot Assist, and Automatic Braking.

The Parking Assist package includes Park Pilot aids and a 360º camera to help maneuver the GLE into any space.

The GLE43 and the GLE63 Coupes are now available in US dealerships with the GLE43 selling for $70,500 and the GLE63 Coupe for $111,860.
