It seems the gremlins are at work again. In the recent qualifying race of Formula One for the Italian Grand Prix, the position of Nico Rosberg was compromised due to an engine trouble. According to Autosport, Toto Wolff said the incident remains “a big question mark” for Mercedes-AMG Petronas team.

Rosberg had to revert to an engine with their previous mechanical specifications due to this unfortunate event. As a result, it only allowed him to finish fourth behind their contenders from Ferrari.

It should be noted that Kimi Raikkonen and Sebastian Vettel are set to start second and third, respectively, in the Italian GP after the mysterious issue with the engine of the German Mercedes driver. It’s a good thing that the current champion Lewis Hamilton locked the pole position for his team to balance things out.

Wolff expressed his worry about this experience. He stated that they still haven’t figured out the root cause of the problem. The team boss revealed that they are observing if the particular issue will also affect Hamilton. Currently, they are looking closely if the champion’s car needs an engine change.

Wolff pointed out that their car has a great pace, but they have to make sure that their cars will not run into the same trouble mid-race in Italy. He is optimistic that they can solve the issue right away though.

Rosberg praised the mechanics of the team for the quick engine change. He said the whole thing only took them one and a half hour because of the time constraints. However, he believes that the older engine will not give him optimal results in the coming race.
