One of the fruits of the technical partnership between Daimler and Aston Martin has been spied. Recently spy shots of the upcoming Aston Martin DB11 were captured. Based on the photos featured at the Autoblog site, the new sports car of the British brand carries a lot of things in common with a well-known Mercedes car.

Looking at the contours of the DB11 in the images provided by the source, it still carries a strong likeness with the DB9. But opening its doors would reveal an exciting interior.

From the photos supplied, the interior components of the sports car mirror the ones found on the S-Class coupe. The steering wheel and almost all the controls bear striking similarities with the coupe from the flagship car of the three-pointed star marque.

While the engine powering the DB11 has not been revealed yet, it is rumored that the next-generation of Aston Martins will carry Mercedes-AMG’s 4.0-liter biturbo V8 power unit. It’s the one found under the hood of the Mercedes-AMG GT, C63 and G500 4×4².

It is not clear whether Aston will go with that option for the DB11 but it is not far-fetched since the relationship of Aston and Daimler involves a technical partnership, giving the British brand access to Mercedes-AMG engines.

However, other reports suggest otherwise, saying that Aston might retain the V12 of its current super car, which will be mated with a turbocharger this time.
