Video: The Mercedes-AMG GT is Just Too Quick

Giancarlo Perlas June 6, 2015

The Mercedes-AMG GT is quick. Its 4.0-liter biturbo V8 engine is designed to deliver 456 hp for the standard GT and 503 hp for the GT S version. Each is mated with a 479 lb-ft of torque and distributed by the brand’s 7-speed automatic dual-clutch transmission gearbox with manual shifting mode.

The said elements enable the sports car to achieve an acceleration from zero to 60 mph in only 3.5 seconds. Then its maximum speed is electronically limited at 193 mph.

The numbers above certainly speak a lot about the performance you could expect from the Mercedes-AMG GT. To put it in a simpler term, the Mercedes-AMG GT is really fast.

Last month, a commercial for the car was released by BBDO China. The video placed an emphasis on the speed of the car through a humorous approach.

The video started just like any other Mercedes-Benz commercials out there. The narrator began by introducing the Mercedes-AMG GT and following it as it accelerated down the road. But as the speaker was only getting to the point wherein he was about to discuss the engine specs of the car, it already sped off.

The rest of the shoot involved the camera crew seemingly catching up with the car. The narrator sounded totally blown away with the car’s speed too that he was struggling what to say or how to describe what he was witnessing.

BBDO really pulled it off on this one since the ad it made was a bit refreshing compared to the ones we have seen so far.
