Impressive Results For A RENNtech-Tuned Mercedes-AMG GT S

The drag racing world uses a different standard when it comes to the acceleration of a car since the 0 to 100 km/h time normally used by manufacturers does not completely reflect the capabilities of a vehicle. For a drag racer, the quarter mile is considered a better way to gauge how fast a vehicle can get off the line, and getting into ten-second region for street-legal cars is an extraordinary accomplishment.

Only a small number of these cars are capable of sprinting down a quarter mile within eleven seconds, and it appears a Mercedes-AMG GT S tuned by RENNtech has joined this elite club, as shown on a report from gtspirit.com. The tuning specialist brought a tuned AMG GT S into the Palm Beach International Raceway to check if the modified exhaust and ECU upgrade on the luxury supercar would meet their expectations.

It did not disappoint them as it sprinted down the strip within 10.94 seconds, which is quite an achievement for the vehicle. It accomplished the feat running at a speed of 206 km/h. Despite the light upgrade made by RENNtech, with its ECU remapping and sports exhaust installation, the Mercedes-AMG GT S was able to produce impressive results.

It should be noted that the luxury supercar is using a set of ADV5.2 Track Spec CS wheels. The cost of the ECU kit is at $3,495 while its custom sports exhaust system, which features downpipes with a cell sport catalytic converter, is priced at $4,940. These enhancements may provide the AMG GT S with a power output of around 600 HP.

While it remains uncertain how much power and torque the luxury supercar produced, the tuning company did indicate that this was just the beginning of its tuning program for the Mercedes-AMG GT S.
