Video Shows 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Being Tested

A good number of spy shots of the 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class have already emerged while it was being evaluated. Recently, a video emerged showing the upcoming E-Class being tested at Nurburgring, as indicated on a report from autoevolution.com.

The camouflage on the upcoming luxury vehicle was not yet removed when the prototype was being filmed. While it does not show anything new when it comes to the appearance of the production model of the new E-Class model, it is expected for the German luxury vehicle manufacturer to reinforce the executive appearance of the vehicle after a number of features of the S-Class were used on the new C-Class. The 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class may also go through similar enhancements when it comes to its overall appearance.

One good indicator is the headlights and taillights of the test prototype, which have some similarities to both the C-Class and S-Class. Mercedes-Benz is also expected to give a similar treatment to the SLC as the company intends to use similar design themes for its model range.

The new MRA or Modular Rear Architecture platform of the luxury vehicle manufacturer is expected to be used on the upcoming 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class. The same platform is currently being used on the C-Class. The new strategy of the company indicates that it is set on concentrating on the core models of its products instead of exploring certain niches in the market. Porsche has benefitted from the same strategy it started recently.

While the upcoming E-Class is also expected to use newer engines, the performance versions may go through a number of changes. The Mercedes-AMG may utilize the 4.0-liter V8 engine, which is currently being used on the Mercedes-AMG GT and C63, instead of the 5.5-liter V8 engine.

Reports have also shown that the new 2.9-liter engine is expected to offer around 405 HP of power. However, this will depend on the number of turbos installed by the engineers of the luxury vehicle manufacturer. The upcoming 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is expected to make its official debut in 2016 together with the SL model.
