The Mercedes SLS AMG Black Series is definitely a monster within a car due to its 6.2-liter V8 engine capable of reaching an output of 622 hp and 468 lb-ft of torque. Then, it has a very aggressive styling that will surely make someone think twice of taking the car on a red-light challenge.

When the Mercedes-AMG GT came out, which was the spiritual successor of the SLS AMG, people surely had a lot of expectations with the new sports car of the three-pointed star brand. Despite the Mercedes-AMG GT being unique and impressive in its own way, people just can’t help but compare it with its predecessor.

So, not long after the Mercedes-AMG GT debuted, auto enthusiasts immediately started asking if there will be a Black Series version of the car similar to the SLS AMG. The interview of Tobias Moers with Evo last year, and recently with Carscoops, confirmed that there will indeed be a Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series.

The Mercedes-AMG CEO reminded everyone though that Black Series versions tend to come towards the end of a car’s production cycle. So, that means a long wait for us since the company just unveiled the AMG GT. It is expected also that there will be a convertible model as well as a higher-performance version of the car before a Black Series comes into the picture.

Moers added that there’s a lot to work on when it comes to a Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series. They have to tinker with the standard car’s power, weight, aero and develop another suspension in order to come up with a Black Series model.
