What better transition from a record-breaking year to the next than by starting big at the first major auto show of the year? Mercedes-Benz made sure its presence was felt at the 2015 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS), otherwise known as the Detroit Motor Show, with the launch of the GLE Coupe along with some other models.

In addition, the German automaker also made sure that the futuristic F 015 Luxury in Motion concept, that only days ago took center stage at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, was present at the event to wow the crowds.

With the global SUV market expected to continue growth in the next couple of years, Mercedes-Benz is keen on keeping its offerings in the segment fresh in order to attract new customers. The GLE Coupe is at the forefront of that SUV initiative, the first of four SUV models expected to be launched by the car manufacturer in 2015 alone. That said, it’s no surprise the company is dubbing this year as the “Year of the SUV.”

Apart from the GLE Coupe, Mercedes-Benz also showcased the new C 350 PLUG-IN HYBRID. The vehicle sports a 31-kilometer zero-emissions lifespan for the electric drive on a single charge. It is driven by a combo featuring a four-cylinder petrol engine, whch is good for 279 horsepower, and the electric motor.

Another vehicle that makes its debut on the world stage is the C 450 AMG 4MATIC, which comes equipped with a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine with power of 367 horsepower, the suspension system lifted straight off the Mercedes-AMG C 63, and a permanent Performance all-wheel-drive system.

It looks like Mercedes-Benz is starting 2015 with all guns blazing. From the impending move of Mercedes-Benz USA to new Atlanta headquarters to this flurry of launches and events, the automaker looks ready to build on the incredible momentum it set in 2014.
