The E92 BMW M3 (on the left) takes on the 2006 Mercedes E55 AMG (on the right).

Aside from both being luxury cars and manufactured by German automakers, what’s common between the 2006 Mercedes E55 AMG and the E92 BMW M3 is that the two are both made to satisfy the hunger of customers for speed. Both cars are equipped with V8 engines with 400-plus horsepower.

In particular, the 2006 Mercedes E55 AMG packs a 5.4-liter V8 engine with around 469 hp. On the other hand, the E92 BMW M3 has a 4.4-liter V8 engine producing 444 hp.

In the video you are about to see, it was not indicated what the cars’ outputs are or if some modifications in their respective engines were made. However, based from the screams of the two luxury cars’ exhausts, some tweaking must have been made to further amplify their power. It should be noted that the performance tires of the Mercedes looked like aftermarket additions as well.

Check out the one-fourth mile drag race of the two to find out, which car won:

The engine noise of the Mercedes truly stood out as it accelerated. As expected, like the other races we have featured lately involving the E55 AMG, its rival was left trailing the smoke it produced in its wake.

The 2006 Mercedes E55 AMG had good reviews from automotive sites. Although it was criticized for being more expensive than its counterparts from other luxury car makers like the BMW, its combination of excellent driving dynamics, high-end safety features, and technology ahead of its time definitely made it shine among its competitors.
