Images Of New 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class With New Body Emerge

Latest images of the prototype of the new 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class emerged recently, as indicated on a report from carscoops.com.

Engineers of the luxury vehicle manufacturer initially used the shell of the present C-Class when they evaluated an E-Class mule last summer. However, images of the new shape of the car emerged recently, which indicates that the development of the vehicle has progressed.

Although the two ends of the luxury vehicle prototype were still covered, the visible parts of the car show that Gorden Wagener led the team designing the upcoming model of the E-Class. The new design showed more curves and softer edges, which is similar to the latest models of the C-Class and S-Class.

It seems that the German luxury vehicle manufacturer has used a wider and longer version of its modular MRA platform on the new 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class. The new MRA platform, which is lighter compared to the one currently being used on the E-Class, is also used on the C-Class. Its lighter weight is due to the fact that the German company used aluminum for the platform.

Reports have also hinted that the latest E-Class may use better inline-six cylinder engines. These new engines will serve as a replacement for the V6 engines that were used by the company for around two decades. The new engines of the luxury vehicle are expected to offer a power output of 200 HP to 400 HP.

Aside from the six-cylinder engines, Mercedes-Benz is expected to use a range of four-cylinder engines. On the other hand the E63 AMG is expected to feature a 4.0-liter bi-turbo V8 engine. The German luxury vehicle manufacturer is also expected to offer plug-in hybrid powertrains for its E-Class lineup.

A number of technology, comfort and safety features used on the S-Class are also expected to be used on the E-Class. The new 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class may enter the North American market by 2016.
