Mercedes-Benz Sponsors Race The Runway 2014

Mercedes-Benz is the main sponsor of the Race the Runway event, which is set to be held at the Edinburgh Airport. Due to this, the luxury vehicle manufacturer from Germany revealed its plans for the charity event this year, according to a report from motorward.com.

The charity event was organized to generate funds for the Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice located in Glasgow. In the event, car owners will have the opportunity to drive their cars down the runway of the Edinburgh Airport. Each participant has to donate £300 for this opportunity.

Participants can bring one passenger as they thunder down the auxiliary runway of the airport. They are guaranteed two runs, a pre-qualifying and qualifying run. Participants can feel the thrill of going all-out on the runway as they try to beat the 186 mph record set last year. Among the cars that will be featured at the Race the Runway is the 2012 Mercedes-Benz AMG Petronas F1 W03 car of Michael Schumacher.

Anthony Davidson will be behind the wheel of the Silver Arrow F1 car will , the event will also feature the Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG, Mercedes-Benz GLA 45, Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG S Estate, Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Black Series, Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series and Mercedes-Benz SL63 AMG Roadster. The combined power output of all of these luxury vehicles surpasses the 3,000 HP mark.

According to Mercedes-Benz UK Communications and Events Director Rob Halloway, the company is delighted to return to the event. He also said it was a privilege for the company to let its cars thunder down the runway at take-off speeds, which is perfectly legal during the event. He added that it will be a remarkable day since it increases awareness and funds for the hospice.

The Race the Runway 2014 charity event is set to be held on September 4, 2014.
