The Mercedes AMG GT Noise is More Imposing in Nurburgring
Giancarlo Perlas June 22, 2014Don’t get us wrong, the engine sound clips released from the testing facility of the Mercedes AMG GT were awesome. The growl and purr of the car alone is enough to convince us that it indeed worthy of succeeding the Mercedes SLS AMG GT.
But upon turning up the speakers while watching the spy video of the Mercedes AMG GT as it was tested in the endurance track of Nurburgring, one can hear the actual sound of the car when it is burning up tires. It should be noted that the sound clips before were only taken from the idle state of the vehicle at different revs. So, it is quite different this time.
The angry engine and exhaust noise of the camouflaged Mercedes AMG GT was truly imposing as it tore through the Nurburgring track. The two elements gave the car an imposing aura whether it is sprinting at straight lines or taking on curves. The combination of the screeching tires with the engine and exhaust noise of the sports vehicle was something to behold.
The noise that the car produces is somewhat muffled though compared to the 6.2-liter V8-powered engine of the SLS AMG. However, the more powerful engine of the Mercedes AMG GT will compensate for its less boastful sound.
Based on reports, the car will be the first to be equipped with the all-new 4.0-liter biturbo V8. The new engine will enable the sports vehicle to reach 5.3 hp at 6250 rpm and 479 lb-ft of torque within 1750 and 4750 rpm.
