A four-door Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe is rumored to be in the drawing board.

We are still awaiting the arrival of the newly-announced Mercedes-Benz C-Class Wagon, yet new reports suggest that there may be another C-Class in the drawing board.

A rumor recently surfaced that Mercedes-Benz is considering to make a four-door variant of its C-Class coupe. According to AutoBlog, the new model will be borrowing the styling used in the CLS-Class four-door coupe. The source said that the new car is Mercedes’ answer to the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe.

Apparently the rumors stemmed out from Thomas Weber’s interview with Auto Express, wherein the German brand’s research and development head stated that another four-door coupe may not be far behind.

Quoting his statement when asked whether there will be another four-door coupe variant, he said, “Yes, there is room between the CLA and the CLS – we are intensively looking at remaining niches that will provide us with profitability and growth.”

That means if the projected numbers will be in favor of Mercedes-Benz, we might surely see another four-door coupe under C-Class.

Over the years, luxury car makers have blurred the lines that define a sedan vs coupe. Before, a sedan is simply a car with four-door design while the latter has only two. But the evolution of cars and the competition in the market redefined the meaning of the two. Now, the difference between them is no longer in the number of doors but rather on the styling, wherein the first has a more economical design and the other is sportier in appearance.
