BlackBerry Limited, the popular maker of mobile devices, proudly announced at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona,Spain yesterday that Daimler AG and Airbus Group are the latest multinational companies to switch to its Blackberry Enterprise Service 10 (BES10) platform. In addition, Daimler will be using the BlackBerry 10 smartphone as the official mobile device of its employees.

The press release of BlackBerry which was published via the N4BB website stated that Daimler decided to adopt the BES10 platform due to its very reliable firewall protection. Then, the German multinational corporation chose BlackBerry 10 phones for its employees to safeguard its classified operations and to ensure that they will have a reliable mode of communication.

Michael Gorriz, the chief information officer of Daimler, said in the press release that information sharing through their employees’ mobile phones will be guarded through the use of a dual-profile system. One is the professional and the other is the private profile.

Gorriz explained that the professional site is regulated by their IT. On the other hand, the user is free to use personal user options in the private section. This way, private services and apps can be freely used by its employees without the company worrying about spilling some of its confidential data.

This is definitely a good move made by the parent company of Mercedes-Benz to ensure that its company secrets will remain sealed from the prying eyes of hackers. The move goes on to show how the company is very serious in protecting its internal information.
