Car dealers are getting more inclined with new technological innovations nowadays. After the successful implementation of the iPhone integration to Mercedes-Benz cars, a news source reported that the R&D facility of the brand in Silicon Valley is gearing for the incorporation of the Google Glass and the Pebble Watch to its vehicles.

According to CNET, when they visited the Mercedes R&D facility, they found out that a new prototype app designed for the Google Glass is being developed by Mercedes engineers. The app will apparently offer the same function that iPhones give to Mercedes cars, that is providing directions to the driver. But, when the driver sits in the car and plugs in his or her Smartphone, the car automatically pulls down the destination and handles the routing so he or she can remove the Google Glass. After parking, simply remove the Smartphone again and the Google Glass takes over the rest of the trip.

However, the report said that they were told by the Mercedes R&D officials that the Google Glass integration to their cars is a long way to go. What is closer to realization though is the Pebble Smartwatch integration to Mercedes autos. Similar to the Google Glass concept, it works in and out of the car.

In addition to these, they also found out that the R&D people of Mercedes are currently working on the integration of Smart thermostats with their future cars. In fact, they already teased about it in a mockup of the interior of the next-generation S-Class. So, this might be a strong hint that it won’t be long until it gets integrated with future releases of the brand.

If any of the mentioned plans come into fruition, these would provide more convenience to the customers or Mercedes-Benz. These would also greatly enhance the performance and functionality of the infotainment systems of its cars.
