Spedition Bartkowiak, a Lower Saxony-based freight forwarder, is adding a new Euro VI-compliant Mercedes-Benz Actros to its fleet. To be more precise, the new unit is an opal-green Actros 1845 LS, which was received personally by Klaus Bartkowiak, the freight forwarder’s managing director.

The Actros Euro VI was chosen because it suited the corporate philosophy of Bartkowiak, who puts a premium on sustainable growth in terms of the ‘economic, social, and environmental perspective’. In the span of a few years, Spedition Bartkowiak was able to cut consumption figures of its fleet by 20 percent. A major part of this sustainability involves transitioning over to Euro VI variants for its truck fleet.

Bartkowiak also cited the reliability of the Actros units currently in his fleet, and he says that there were no major faults in the tractor units aside from some minor electrical issues.

In order to reach a decision, Spedition Bartkowiak tested the Euro VI units alongside its existing vehicles to see the advantages. The Euro VI variant was able to prove better in terms of fuel consumption and also when it comes to operating costs.

On hand for the handover was Martin König, the Regional Salesperson for Mercedes-Benz’s Hanover sales and service outlet. Keys were handed over to Bartkowiak at the Mercedes-Benz plant located in Wörth.

The 1845 LS is a lowliner variant that comes with a pneumatic suspension and a lowered chassis. It is also fitted with the Safety Pack Top that comes with Lane Keeping Assist, Attention Assist, Stability Control Assist, Proximity Control Assist, and Active Brake Assist 3.

In addition, all Actros units come with the highly touted FleetBoard telematics system.
