Car-sharing service car2go is set to expand its London business area come June, with the new business area covering 100 square miles to take effect in a few days.
The London car2go service launched in December of last year, in Islington as well as Sutton. The service has expanded from the initial two boroughs to include large areas. There’s Croydon, Kingston, Raynes Park, Richmond, South Lambeth, Southwark, and Wimbledon.
The service, however, will be suspended in Newham in order to focus on higher demand in other areas within London.
The new business area will have 500 of these smart vehicles available on demand. As is usual car2go fare, any available car2go cars can be rented out straight from any parking space, and they can be parked in all legal and unrestricted free-parking sapces without having to use fixed rental stations.
It only takes five simple steps to use the service: registering, locating a car2go vehicle, accessing the vehicle, driving it, and subsequently finishing the rental by parking the car in a designated and valid space within the car2go Home Area.
Charges are computed up to the last minute, and the rental in London costs 35p per minute of use.
