Ross Brawn Confirms that He Still Holds the Reigns of the Team

Ross Brawn

We posted the news about the rumors fueled by BBC’s top Formula One analyst Eddie Jordan surrounding the possible move of Paddy Lowe from McLaren to Mercedes-Benz team earlier. A move that could potentially jeopardize the position of Ross Brawn as the group’s principal. Then, there were news about the reorganizations made by Daimler pertaining to Mercedes’ racing activities.

But according to Brawn, there is no question about who holds the reigns of the team. He stood his ground by stating that he is still the team principal and he is in charge of the race despite people coming in like Toto Wolff.

He said that Wolff can handle all the commercial activities and support to Daimler on a daily basis, which is a thing that he does not want to get a part with. However, deciding on technical, sporting and other matters related to racing is a different thing. And this is something that he is tasked to handle.

He further commented that although their jobs complement each other in terms of the group’s management, the success of the team depends on having only one reference. Brawn firmly said that the reference he mentioned is himself.

Lewis Hamilton assured the press that Brawn’s role in the team is stable and any issues surfacing that say otherwise are nothing but speculations as of the moment.
