Mercedes-Benz is set unleash their hybrids in the Australian highway this coming year. The radical move is set to upgrade the current E-Class class running around the country.

The Stuttgart-based multi-national company aims to provide an effective and efficient alternative to Aussies by combining electric and diesel power. It features a 100 kilometers per hour acceleration in just 7.5 seconds plus a very economical fuel consumption of 4.1 liters per 100 kilometers. What’s more, the hybrid has a 2.1-liter diesel engine with a powerful torque of 500Nm and the electric engine comes with an added 280Nm torque.

There are significant updates in the luxurious E-Class units, but the signature look of its variants still remains. Several facelifts have been added to the nose and tail though.

According to Australian-based current events websites, the overhaul of the E-Class is due to the impending arrival of the new 5-series of BMW, which is the toughest competitor of Mercedes-Benz.

The spokesperson of Mercedes-Benz in Australia, Jerry Stamoulis, stated that the pricing of the models starts at $79,900 for the E200 up to $240,485 for the E63 AMG. However, he stated that the pricing modes are still too premature.
