2014 S-Class Cabrio Spied Testing

Emmanuel P September 26, 2012

As you can see from the pictures, a Mercedes S-Class drop top is on the way. Currently, the largest drop top available from the German manufacturer is the E550, but this model is too small to compete with cars the very wealthy like to roll in. Cars like Bentley and Rolls-Royce convertibles and a slew of other open-air exotics. Having a large convertible like this is a matter of prestige and good business sense, so it’s no surprise to see Mercedes’ imminent entrant into this niche.

With its large dimensions, it’s safe to say that the S-Class Cabrio will seat a pair of rear adult passengers quite comfortably, unlike some smaller droptops that force the rear occupants to contort themselves painfully just for the experience. As befits an S-Class, expect the latest comfort, driver aids and safety technology to be incorporated into the car, and probably a 6-cylinder as the entry level engine for this variant.
