At the Comtrans show held in Moscow, Daimler and Kamaz proudly presented the latest offspring of their commercial partnership. A new Kamaz truck containing a significant number of Daimler components will be marketed as a Russia-only offering.
Aside from the axle manufacturing joint venture inked last year, Daimler and Kamaz will also be undertaking the manufacture of truck cabs. Mercedes-Benz is expected to begin supplying truck cabs to Kamaz by July next year. This partnership with Daimler has also enable Kamaz to meet the latest Euro 5 emission standards.
Said Andreas Renschler, responsible for Daimler trucks and buses, “We’re delighted to further expand our cooperation with Kamaz. Russia remains the largest truck market in Europe, with a market volume of 79,000 units over six tons GVW last year and almost 190,000 units forecast for 2020. Together with our partner, we are on the right track to offer state-of-the-art trucks for the Russian market.”
