Bouncing back from 24th after the crash that happened the last time, Michael Schumacher is now at number 5.

The very happy Mercedes-Benz F1 pilot said, “We have made the most of the race – I’m satisfied. The duel with Nico was interesting, he has also made wide – but I had a little more excess of speed. Yesterday it started disappointingly, it can only get better – and it was at the end. Thanks to the fans around the track! ”

Schumacher, who’s also celebrating his 20th year as an F1 driver, got the 5th place at +0.41.464, followed by his team mate Nico Rosberg at +0:48.674.

“The launch was great – I got away well from the line – but knew that I can not hold the position long. No person in front of you – after you jam – is a good feeling. This exciting race was good – I like my team-mate Michael Schumacher took over, I’ve fought in any case and would make any gifts, ” Nico Rosberg said.

The last time that the Germans won the race at the Spa was in 2002, it was Schumacher who stepped on the top of the podium. Now it was Sebastian Vettel who won the race.

New B-Class Video Shows Stately Progression

Claiming that “No model change in the history of Mercedes-Benz has ever seen so many new developments introduced in one fell swoop”, Thomas Weber, Head of Development for Mercedes-Benz cars enthused about the safety features of the newly-launched B-Class. Though not as exciting to watch as the AMG stormers like the Black Series or SLS AMG, this footage of the new B-Class shows the packaging of the safety features that were of primary importance in the design of the vehicle.

What you see from the outside are the sleeker lines and distinctly Mercedes-Benz aura of the B-Class as it moves down the road. What is not immediately noticeable is the radar-based collision warning system with adaptive Brake Assist and the PRE-SAFE preventive occupant protection system, both of which are standard and new to this vehicle segment.

The new model also features direct injection and turbocharging, new diesel engine, dual clutch transmission, manual transmission and driver assist systems. The standard gas engine is a 1600 cc unit with 120 horsepower. Buyers can also opt for a larger displacement B200 with 156 horsepower. Diesel engines come with 110 horsepower in the B180 CDI and 136 hp in the B200 CDI.

Lack Of Engineers Threatens Pace Of New Car Development

Despite the sluggishness of some major economies, German car manufacturers are not quite feeling the pinch these days, as sales of the top three car makers are surging in developing markets.

To this end, research and development programs are being expanded, but herein lies the snag. It seems that there is a shortage of engineers in Germany itself and this, coupled with an aging workforce, is causing worry for the manufacturers. In fact, 30% of German companies now view the lack of skilled workers as a serious business risk. For car manufacturers, the lack will mean hampering research and development.

To this end, Daimler and its rivals are looking to recruit qualified people in their growth markets such as China and India. They’re also instituting programs that will allow them to access talent from universities, as well as stepping up in-house training programs that will update the engineering workforce in new and emerging technologies.

Michael Schumacher only ran for 67 seconds at the F1 qualifying in Spa. He said that it was a bizarre accident. His right rear wheel was detached at the start of the Q1. Thus, he starts at 24th place, his worst grid position ever.

“At first, I wasn’t sure what had happened, as I just felt myself lose the back end suddenly which is why I instantly apologized to the team. But then I saw the wheel off the car and understood the reason why I had lost control,” he said. According to GP Update’s website, he also said that he would have wished that this did not happen, meanwhile, he added, “Seriously, this is certainly something that should not occur, but then this is also Formula 1. We are working at the highest level but still things can happen.”

Schumacher though is undeterred, he is still looking at this situation positively as he said that, “Trying to find the good in the bad, I’d probably say that I still have some fresh sets of tyres left, and that there is only one direction to go tomorrow- forward.”
