Mercedes-Benz’ Nico Rosberg and Michael Schumacher ended in 7th and 17th place respectively at the European Grand Prix. In this race, Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull placed first.

Schumacher’s car collided with Petrov’s car on lap 15, just after leaving his first pit stop. The collision broke his front wing thus he needed to do another stop after completing the lap.

Michael Schumacher said he was not too happy with the race, he commented, “Not a very satisfying race for me today. The outcome was decided after lap 15 when I slid into Petrov and lost the points I could perhaps have achieved. Our race pace should have allowed me to finish more or less where I started, but that is only speculation after the incident. I saw Petrov quite late, even though I was aware that he was coming, and tried to brake as late as possible and go round the corner with him. But when I wanted to draw back, I locked the front wheel and slipped into him, which was clearly my mistake. From then onwards, the race was done and I just had to drive the car over the finish line. We will now look ahead to Silverstone which is one of our home races.”

Meanwhile, Rosberg used the option-new option-used option-prime stopping strategy which made him use the full potential of his car.

Based on Mercedes’ current designs, Wild Speed has revealed their vision on what an ML63 AMG would look like. With reports of the actual vehicle being tested, there is a possibility that this high performance SAV will be shown at this year’s Frankfurt Auto Show.

Expectedly, the ML63 AMG will have the M157 biturbo V8 engine, featuring direct injection. This is the same engine found in the E63 AMG. Standard, this engine gives just under 520 horsepower. With AMG’s performance package, output would be more in the region of 550 horsepower. If the ML63 AMG comes in under 5000 pounds, this will give the M-Class SUV the performance to rival even sporty sedans.

Daimler has announced a joint venture company to be named Beijing Benz Automotive Co, Ltd. (BBAC). Together with its Chinese partner Beijing Automotive Industry Corporation, about 2 billion euros will be invested in the new joint venture.

The agreement covers local production for the Chinese market of the the GLK SUV and three models of the upcoming generation of Mercedes-Benz compact cars. Meanwhile, production capacities for the capacities for the C- and E-Class will be expanded from the current 80,000 units, depending on demand.

Said Dieter Zetsche, Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler AG and Head of Mercedes-Benz Cars, “With this framework agreement, we are laying the essential strategic foundations for our long-term and significant participation in the growth of the key market China. The projects agreed upon are further central elements of our China strategy for the sustainable development of our business. As early as 2020, at least one in five premium compact cars is expected to be sold in China. In the light of this enormous growth potential, we are resolutely switching to attack mode with the local production of our new compacts.”

Mercedes-Benz Highlights Blind Mechanic’s Achievement

Mercedes saw fit to send a film crew to Alsip in Chicago to feature this mechanic dedicated to his craft. But Bart Hickey is unique because he is blind. Influenced by his mechanic father who passed away when he was 11, Bart started working on his mom’s car because he felt she way paying too much. Seems that from that early experience, Bart Hickey found a way to support himself. He admits that the newer cars give him more trouble, unlike 70s Chevys, for example, that were much easier to work on.

Seeing this video makes you ashamed of the little things that make you upset in your daily lives, because even though Bart Hickey has a crippling disability, he has refused to let it get in the way of earning an honest living.
