A beaming Ducati CEO, Gabriele del Torchio, recently took delivery of a zircon red CLS 63 AMG, a few weeks after Ducati MotoGP works rider Nick Hayden took delivery of his own Edition One CLS 63 AMG. Powering the CLS 63 AMG is a 5.5-liter V8 packing 557 horsepower, with maximum torque of 590 lb.ft. AMG’s SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission transmits the power to the rear wheels and aids in the car’s fuel consumption of 9.9 liters per 100 km. This makes the powerplant one of the most efficient high-performance V8 engines in the world.
Says del Torchio, “I’m already looking forward to having fun at the wheel of the new CLS 63 AMG, which to me really seems to offer the perfect synthesis of power, elegance and efficiency. We are working hard on the implementation of the first joint projects between AMG and Ducati.” Readers may recall that the Italian motorcycle manufacturer recently joined forces with AMG, in a partnership that will focus around joint marketing and sponsoring activities. In 2011, AMG will provide the official cars of the Ducati MotoGP Team.
Adds Ola Källenius, Chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-AMG GmbH, “The cooperation agreement signed with Ducati at the Los Angeles Show in November 2010 is already bearing fruit – as you can see from the joint activities that are now getting under way. We can’t wait to hear Gabriele del Torchio’s thoughts on the new CLS 63 AMG.”
