German tuner VATH’s latest creation involves souping up the Mercedes-Benz CL500 (c216), giving the coupe some improvements in both the performance and style departments.

For starters, VATH tweaked the stock 5.5L V8 engine with some new sports camshafts, custom air filters and custom sport catalysts made from stainless steel. This brings the total power from 388 horsepower on the stock model to a new and improved 460 horsepower. The CL500’s speed limiter has also been taken out, so this tuned model has a top speed of a whopping 180 mph (290 kph).

Other improvements includea new three-way adjustable sports suspension system along with a high-performance braking system. This helps improve the handling of the vehicle.

Cosmetic changes, meanwhile, include a new rear diffuser, a spoiler on the boot lid, and a new front spoiler lip. These additions are all in carbon fiber. The CL500 has also been given a new set of wheels—20-inch ones that are made from forged alloy. Lastly, for the interior, VATH decided to go with some carbon fiber trim, a new speedometer for the dash, and a bespoke steering wheel to complement the overall sporty feel of the vehicle.
