There are rumors that the latest Mercedes-Benz CLS will be launched on January 29. This is a significant date for the company since it was on this date, 125 years ago, when Carl Benz filed a patent for a vehicle operated by a gas engine.
Mercedes trumpets the CLS as the company’s showcase of its capacity to innovate in terms of design and technology. Brand communications head Anders Sundt Jensen says that, “There has never been a new vehicle concept which has enjoyed the same degree of success as the CLS. With the launch of this model in October 2004 Mercedes-Benz established a bold, new vehicle concept and the new version builds on this with its exciting design and refined sportiness.”
The Mercedes marketing campaign for the CLS will encompass retail and marketing activities that will include print advertising, TV and radio advertisements, pre-roll ads, an interactive web special and an iPad app. The face of the campaign will be Victoria’s Secret Angel Karolina Kurkova.
The CLS will be available in five trim designs, five interior colors, three exclusive types of wood (high-gloss brown burr walnut, high-gloss black ash and satin-finish light-brown poplar) and three types of leather. Engine packages will be a 265 hp CLS 350 CDI and a 306 hp CLS 350.
