AMG has released official photos of the upcoming C63 in the sedan and estate forms. Officially debuting at the 2011 Geneva Salon this March, the AMG sedan and estate variants of the C63 will receive styling and performance tweaks to set it apart.
Externally, the C63 AMG will of course carry the design changes of its base brethren. However, AMG-specific parts such as restyled bumpers, grills and wheels are evident. The interior is also be differentiated with AMG trim parts.
It is in the mechanical aspects the the C63 AMG differs significantly. As befits the AMG emblem, the suspension has been massaged to provide improved handling. But the heart of the matter is in the engine, which uses the proven 6.2-liter V8, serving up 457 horsepower and 442 pounds-feet of torque from its naturally-aspirated tuning. 0-60 times are 4.5 seconds for the sedan and 4.6 for the Estate.
For this new variant, AMG is installing their new MCT 7-speed transmission. Aside from the sporty performance given by the new transmission, fuel economy is reportedly improved by 10 percent. If these performance figures are not enough, there is an optional package that boosts engine output to 487 horsepower, which drops the 0-60 times of the sedan and Estate to 4.4 and 4.5 seconds respectively.
