Styling Buck Shows Aggressive Makeover For A-Class

2012 a class spy Styling Buck Shows Aggressive Makeover For A Class
Devoted fans of the Mercedes-Benz marque don’t give the A-Class Mercedes much respect. It’s a legitimate reaction since the Mercedes name is synonymous with luxury and performance and the A-Class doesn’t offer much of both, compared to its C- and E-class brethren. If Mercedes has its way though, the next A-Class will be stylish enough to pique the interest of the M-B elite.

Spy photogs managed to get a set of images showing a styling buck of the next generation A-Class.
Lower and more aggressive-looking, it is unmistakably a Mercedes-Benz and the flanks even show hints of the CLS. Styling bucks are wood sections that are placed on a frame (oftentimes made of steel). Trolley wheels are place underneath for easy movement. Sometimes, the steel panels for show cars are made from full-size these templates of the concept cars. The styling buck that was captured on camera does not appear to be a full-size model.

As former rumors suggest and which even AMG has intimated, there may be high-performance models of the next A-class. These would be entry-level AMG models that would compete with the hot hatches from Audi and BMW

As part of the ceremony to mark the 125th birthday of the invention of the motor car on 29 January in Stuttgart, German Chancellor Dr. Angela Merkel and Dr. Dieter Zetsche, Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler AG, fired the symbolic starting shot for the Mercedes-Benz F-CELL World Drive. Setting out from Stuttgart on 30 January, three Mercedes-Benz B-Class vehicles featuring local zero-emission fuel cell drives are undertaking a 125-day circumnavigation of the world. Travelling across four continents and through 14 countries, the three B-Class F-CELL vehicles will head around the globe once, finishing their “world tour” back in Stuttgart where they started. With the F-CELL World Drive, Mercedes-Benz is aiming to confirm the technical maturity of fuel cell technology, as well as the suitability for everyday use of the vehicles. At the same time, the company will also take the opportunity to enforce the political call to establish a comprehensive filling station infrastructure for fuel cell vehicles.

Daimler’s New Battery Tech Patent

At the 125 Years of the Automobile celebration kickoff, Daimler had announced that yet another technology patent had been granted to the automaker, some 80,000 patents after Carl Benz filed for the patent on the first automobile back in 1886. This new patent, presented by the German Patent and Trademark Office, is for a “bipolar flat-cell frame,” something touted to be a new battery technology breakthrough.

Basically, this “bipolar flat-cell frame” allows lithium-ion batteries to be cooler, more efficient and more compact compared to the current batteries that are in use in today’s electric vehicles. This will certainly allow Daimler to fully industrialize lithium-ion batteries and make them more viable for use in a wider range of vehicles.

“If Daimler and Benz were still alive today, they would advise us to make green cars even more fascinating and fascinating cars even greener. Only attractive innovations are effective innovations,” said Dr. Dieter Zetche, Daimler AG Chairman and Head of Mercedes-Benz Cars.

Here’s what Daimler’s statement has to say about the patent’s development progress: “This technology is now in the development stage at Daimler and is potentially a further step along the way to the industrialisation of lithium-ion batteries.”

At the celebration kickoff, Diamler also announced a plan to send a trio of B-Class F-Cell vehicles on a trip around the globe in order to prove that hydrogen fuel is a viable fuel source.

It’s always nice to be an employee at a company that is celebrating a milestone. Take for example that leaked Christmas bonus thingy for Google employees, which was seen via an e-mail memo that circulated through the Internet. Now, Daimler AG will be spending a total of 125 Million euros (around $170 Million) to be given out as bonuses for the company’s 260,000 employees as part of its celebrations of the 125th birthday of the automobile.

Employees are certainly going to enjoy the bonus, especially as they could end up receiving more than €480 (around $659) on average. That’s because some reports peg that the amount can be €1,000 each (or around $1,300+). There are also reports that Daimler personnel can receive an additional €3,125 (around $4,300) via its employee council, in appreciation of the success it had in 2010. The only prerequisite for getting the bonuses would be that each recipient should have been with the company for at least one year.

It was 125 years ago when Carl Benz first filed a patent for his “vehicle with gas-engine drive.” Now, Mercedes-Benz is one of the most recognized brands on the automotive market and Daimler is one of the biggest vehicle companies. It’s great to see that upper management is giving credit where credit is due, and giving their employees more motivation to make 2011 onwards bigger and better for Daimler.

Mercedes-Benz has officially unveiled a sculpture that highlighted the kick-off for the brand’s celebrations of the 125th birthday of the automobile. The sculpture, named “Aesthetics 125,” is said to be the embodiment of the Mercedes-Benz philosophy that states “design is art.”

Fans and enthusiasts can look at the sculpture as a prelude of things to come, saying that Aesthetics 125 represents the direction toward which the company’s design language will be headed in the future. According to the automaker, the sculpture is a combination of the “elements of an automobile’s interior and exterior by means of sweeping, almost soaring shape transitions.”

Using something called “innovative rapid-prototyping technology,” Mercedes-Benz was able to render the digital makeup of the object and then transfer it directly to a physical form. “The technology works with various materials and applies them in fine layers so that no waste material is produced when a sculpture is created,” according to a statement released by the company.

Over 1,400 people, guests of the 125th anniversary celebrations, were in attendance to witness the unveiling of Aesthetics 125. In addition, the company also announced that they have patented a new battery technology that would be pivotal in the evolution of the lithium-ion battery.
