Daimler Reports Year-to-Date Sales Increase of Almost 20%

Daimler AG today reported U.S. sales of 19,248 Mercedes-Benz and smart vehicles, an improvement of 13.3 Percent compared to November 2009. Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA) today reported its highest November sales volume since 2007 with sales of 19,037, an increase of 13.3% for the month. 18,208 passenger cars, light truck vehicles and 829 Sprinter vans are included in this total. Sales of 203,468 vehicles on a year-to-date basis reflects a sales increase of 19.4%. Shown for the first time at the LA Auto Show with an all-new interior, the smart fortwo recorded 211 sales in November 2010.

Both Mercedes-Benz passenger car and light-truck categories reflected impressive gains, with the strongest performer in sales being the E-class. The 9th generation E-Class had sales of 4,986 units, bringing its year-to-date total to 55,869. This reflects an upward trend of a 25.4% increase in sales.

The C-Class demonstrated its popular and sporty following with sales of 3,930 and the sale of 3,470 units of the M-Class SUV showed that its versatility is a huge factor in its popularity. The E-, C- and M-Classes round out the top three most popular Mercedes-Benze models for the month of November.

Meanwhile, sales of the high end CL coupe, up by 159.2%, demonstrated that even the more expensive models shared the strong sales performance of the Mercedes-Benz brand. Also showing strong gains for the month were the elegant CLS coupe up 130.8% and the commanding G-Class sport utility vehicle, where unit sales were up by 67.6%. Thirty-six deliveries of the SLS AMG, the newly launched supercar brought its year-to-date sales to 451.
