SLS AMG the only car to win gold in Fed Rep Germany Design Awards

It’s the stuff that legends are made off—facing stiff competition for a prestigious award only few premium car manufacturers could ever dream of. The 41st Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany, in gold. Yep, that’s what it is, and it was won unanimously by none other than the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG.

Hands down, the SLS AMG is now one of, if not the most, attractive super sports cars out there. Out of 1,500 product nominations for the award, the SLS AMG is one of the 25 awardees. It’s actually the only car out of the 25 awardees. So you can only guess how bitter Mercedes-Benz rivals are feeling right now. It looks like the heritage it earned from the original 300 SL Gullwing of the 1950’s paid off more than its dues to its descendant.

What makes this award so sought after? Well, its jury is composed of representatives from different industries, including academes, design and media. And only up for nomination are products that have received design awards in the past. That alone should speak highly of the SLS AMG and the competition it faced during judging. And speaking of previous design awards, the SLS AMG is no stranger.
