Harman Kardon Sound System Fitted in Mercedes-Benz CLS

Harman, one of the leading producers of audio and infotainment technology has manufactured a new surround sound system for the Mercedes-Benz CLS, exclusively fitted for the interior of the four-seat coupe.

The people behind the company have installed 14 high performance speakers to be able to produce a three dimensional ambient sound. Its sound system features a double voice coil subwoofer that is powered by extra 160 watt bass amplifiers, generate strong bass impulses. The vehicle’s world class 450 watt bass amplifiers is fitted with a heavy duty digital signal processor (DSP) which commands each speaker individually. The Logic 7 system boasting of a 360-degree sound in every seat includes the Harman Kardon logo on the tweeters in the triangular panels beside the wing mirrors signal. Its speed-dependent volume control (SVC) gurantee that the sound heard by the listener remains constant, as this is achieved through the consistent adaptation of the volume to the vehicle speed.

Dinesh C. Paliwal, the Chairman, President and CEO of Harman, stated that, “Our sound system for the new CLS marks another high point in our longstanding partnership with Daimler, which stretches back over more than 60 years. We are very proud to emphasize the refined sportiness of the new CLS with our high-end sound system”. One important aspect of the infotainment system is its 5.8 inch TFT color monitor (14.7 cm) in 16:9 format. The DVD navigation system includes data for 32 European countries. The Mercedes-Benz CLS that is now available in the European market is equipped with the Audio APS navigational system as an option, which was also exclusively manufactures by HARMAN for the German automaker.

According to the statement released by Harman, “the result is a perfect spatial sound experience for every passenger, wherever they are seated, whatever the speed.”
